President Trump

He could have waited another couple of weeks ffs.
He's distracting from his own Ethics investigation so might not have a few weeks.

Still though, this is more "proof" that Trump is a fascist; somebody else proposing a Bill that is impossible to pass in order to make people stop talking about their "irregularities". Everything us a nail etc

I’ve never called him a fascist iirc. I’ve definitely called him a **** a few times though.

If it wasn't so worrying, you could sit back and laugh: the man is an absolute buffoon. It is cringeworthy to watch his utter inability to take any critique of his actions or words, yet take continual credit for things that have nothing to do with him.

He's not Hitler or Stalin or Lex Luthor. He's a 78 year old former gameshow host with a hilarious surname who appealed to a populist demographic and in 197 weeks will be gone and will never come back.
Any changes he makes in those 197 weeks can and probably will be immediately reversed and things will move back to the US centre.
Any law that can be voted in, can be voted out. Any law that can be amended can be re-amended.
And if you think the US military, a population who holds the Constitution and Bill of Rights with a mythical reverence that most religious fanatics don't hold their Bibles in, would ever support a coup then frankly you're been dramatic.
When he was first elected, people were saying he was going to become a dictator for life. I said that's ridiculous, he's going to do nothing, which is essentially what he did. He spent 4 years as President and made almost no historical imprint on legislation.
The same will happen again.

Trump is a master of deflection though and I'm shocked how people STILL fall for this. It's like none of you ever heard of trolling before. If he's talking about invading Canada then it's almost certainly because he's attempting to draw attention away from something else that will help secure his base. Talk about that instead rather than Red Dawn like fantasies

I generally agree that his time in office between 2016 and 2020 was less eventful than expected, but I don't think you can say he made no historical impact on US legislation when he packed the Supreme Court with those loyal to him and overturned Roe v. Wade. That kinda law took decades of work to preserve and it was undone within months. And such is the situation in America at the moment it's very unlikely to see that reinstated. And just me personally, I'm less concerned with Trump himself and more the people he fills his cabinet with. Trump doesn't really have an ideology beyond what makes him the most money, but now he's got a character like Musk in his ear things like rolling back women's rights, equality and discrimination laws, etc. become a very real possibility. They've already signed through several executive orders rolling back work that communities of marginalised people spent decades on. I don't think Trump's going to start World War III, but neither did Reagan - and he caused untold damage that's still being dealt with today.

Trump is both lazy and low intelligence. As you say he did F all in his last 4 year term. What he does is allows other GOP types to go about their nefarious business. Such as the tax dupe policy and appointing corrupt judges.

It's already clear he has no real agenda. His actions to date are purely to serve the base and wind up the libs. His comments about the war in Ukraine show he's totally out of his depth. That will be interesting as he clearly wants the war over but he has zero leverage on Putin. This dynamic is the one to watch.

It’s not just him though is it, it’s the ones behind him, if they carry it on then what? I don’t think he’s smart enough to even think up a tenth of those EO he signed, his strings are been pulled by massaging his ego. He has zero to lose unless of course they allow him another term, so much damage can be done in his 4 years, who’s to say states don’t try and break away like California? People may start moving if they are been persecuted in some states for been gay etc, don’t say it won’t happen because the way he’s going on about DEI etc who’s to say after the abortion fiasco been gay could start been outlawed in certain states with these religious nutters.
Look at what he’s spouting and mirror that with Putin he wants to go back in time and MAGA/back to Soviet empire, not interfere in other countries/Russia don’t think they should interfere (we know both are bollocks), doesn’t believe in diversity/LGBT stuff, hates immigrants. Already they are trying to change the constitution to allow him to stay longer, Putin for life president, becoming isolationist but expanding, if Trump starts to falter a good war or invasion might help, Christ they have 11 carrier fleets best use them, say around Greenland.
He may be a deflecting but what from, whatever it is it will be the benefit of him and the money men and won’t be good for the rest of us, look at Davos yesterday an absolute shit show and about time the rest of the world started calling him out on it.

He didn't pack the Supreme Court, he appointed judges who were then ratified by Congress which is exactly what should and does happen. Roe vs Wade took the issue out of federal hands and said instead the states should follow their own legislation which seems about right to me. The country is split on the issue, the Supreme Court found the idea unconstitutional (and I'm certainly no scholar here but I do understand that the US was designed to be a confederation of aligned states who formed a federalised Government) and as you pointed out, it was already passed once so can be again.

If you think Trump might become a Reaganesque like figure then I think that's a perfectly valid and sensible point; he has a large cultural impact and he will make changes that the right wing conservatives think are correct to do. I don't agree necessarily but it's a much more sensible idea than Trump is going to be a fascist dictator for life who will start a war against Denmark and put trans people in camps.

Again, what are we talking about here? Reagan as an incumbent won 49 out of 50 states in the biggest electoral victory in American history. He is exactly what the people wanted and did what the people wanted him to do. Who are we to tell them that they can't have the country that they want, that they vote for, and that they think is morally correct?

What's the point of being a democrat if you think the people who get voted in shouldn't be allowed to implement the things that they were mandated upon?

Trump is both lazy and low intelligence.
He won the Presidency as the longest betting odds outsider in the history of Western elections and now is President again.

People aren't stupid and lazy because you disagree with their politics. There's this thought process that says something like "well they think something different to me and because I'm obviously correct, it means they either don't know as much as me, they haven't thought about it like I have, or they are morally compromised because if they weren't any of those things then they'd think like me" and it's pervasive in today's society and incredibly arrogant and blinkered.

Supporting Trump makes you a fool. He's the king of the idiots.

He's a billionaire who is the possibly the most powerful man in the world. The idea he's a moron is ridiculous. You can define intelligence however you want, I would hazard a guess that he's probably not passing a quantum physics exam, but he isn't Homer Simpson either.
