Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

It was a cold one today but the game raised the spirits. Bernie seemed to be enjoying the captain role and led by example today. His effort and energy was fantastic. Loved how he kept control of the ball after the Khusanov error, and gave the lad a breather. Josko was magnificent such a good technical player. Thought Gundo was excellent today and made some crucial tackles. Eddy showing again what he means to our play. Haaland was enjoying himself out there today with long balls coming over the top, playing to his strengths. Khusanov is going to be some player once he gets some games under his belt. Loved the standing ovation and cheering the tackles he made after his error. Marmoush was excellent, so direct and makes things happen, going to be a big player for us. Although could have put Phil through but shot instead. I think bringing Stonesy on settled us down and he was organizing the back line, such a good player. Nunes was okay today, but we still need a right back. Phil got physically brushed off in a few challenges but had a good game overall, and good goal. I think a few new faces helped raise the atmosphere both in the team, and in the stands. Really pleased for Pep tonight been a rough few months for home personally but looks like he was enjoying tonight. Green shoots and the two new players we saw, on first glance, look very good players for now and in the future. Finally, great to see the fans sticking with the team throughout the game.
 
The new boy showed he has guts, overcoming the nightmare start and early booking.

I was worried when I saw the midfield but have to say that was Gundogans best 90 mins since he came back.

Good performances all round and good to see Foden all over the place.

Despite the plaudits on here I thought there were many times that Nunes made the wrong choice (he’s definitely not an intelligent footballer) and half heartedly went in for a challenge in the first half that rebounded to one of the Chelsea forwards, putting him in on goal.
Shirking tackles for me is unforgivable!

The performance was as much about character as skill…..something we have been badly lacking recently.

Chelsea were shocking though….apart from that lot at OT…..I have never seen a team with so many attitudes.

Where’s the MotM thread?

I thought Joško just shaded it from Bernardo. Gündog and Erling were also both very good.

And it was great to see all three top scorers adding to their tally.

And it was good to see Johnny, Johnny Stones! back on the pitch.
 
We looked much better today and playing the ball over the top to Erling is very effective.
Marmoush played really well and will leave space for Erling to run into.
Thought Khusanov played well after he got over his nerves and his fuck up..he's fast and very strong too..I think he will be a great player given time.
Josko Bernie Erling and Phil all played very well and Eddie looked more relaxed.
Nunes gets some stick and not all unwarranted but today he was much better.
Hopefully we can beat Bruges and get into the play off rounds.

Khusanov error? Akanji should have ran on and put his foot through it. 95% his fault in my opinion, new kid in a new country in a new team odd game to start him in, in my opinion, that's when you need the most support and he didn't get it.
