Welcome Abdukodir Khusanov

It was a really tough first 10 minutes for the lad, I have to admit after the 10 minute period he recovered incredibly well and showed serious mentality to overcome the tough start.

After the tough start I thought he done really well he showed good composure on the ball and continued to take risks with his forward passes compared to the first 10 minutes in which he used Ederson alot.

Hats off to Nunes too he helped him out alot and done incredibly well beside him considering he isn't a right back either, Don't let Ratboy fool you or any pundit, Nicolas Jackson might be poor on front of goal but on his day he's a fucking nightmare to deal with, He got substituted after 60 minutes because he barely got a kick of the ball and numerous occasions Khusanov dispossessed him including the good shoulder barge near the corner which was aggressive but a fair challenge.

I was impressed with Khusanov yesterday, He will grow into a serious centre back given the time.

Seconded. Did very well to compose himself and after the opening few looked pretty good.

I really felt for him for the goal and then the card. He's a young lad in a new country, new league against one of the best teams in Europe. It wouldn't be easy for anyone. He looked lost in the first few minutes but hats off to him for going straight in, and make no mistakes he will have learned a lot in that game.

Personally I thought Akanji caused the problem by rushing in. He was better placed to tidy up and should've yelled for the ball and cleared it.

I thought he did really well to recover his composure and will be a decent signing once he settles.

I felt for him too, it was a gamble forced by a lack of fit defenders, to play him so early, and I can’t help thinking Akanji was in a better position to clear the danger, but maybe the language barrier got in the way. He did block another attack later and apart from the yellow, he did OK afterwards. A lot of young players would have let it get to them. The media had a field day criticising him, that is the biggest hurdle for him to overcome. At least weasel Neville, for once, had sympathy for him.

Genuinly think we will be sitting on here in 10 years using this as a benchmark for every player we sign that has ubderwhelming debuts "Remember how shite Khusanov looked in his first game? He turned out fine.." after 10 years of being an absolute force at the back for us. He has all the tools to be an absolute fantastic defender, and if those 45 minutes yesterday after the initial mistakes was him being digging deep to not let the situation affect him I think him at full confidence will be a sight to see

Also fitting that it was against Chelsea, considering we all want him to be the anti-Mangala now.

He did exactly what he was brought in to do.

Mainly come into the team when the more established players are injured.

Allowed stones to get less minutes and helped us win.

Over the last 2 months we have had so many senior players mess up in games and yesterday was no different. Kova nearly fucked up a few times.

Akanji could have cleared that ball aswell. Simple miscommunication.

Every player we sign is allowed time to settle. Some need it more than others.

In Khusanov, let's hope we may have got someone who's doing the opposite of Mangala who was great in his 1st game (ironically, also against Chelsea - he controlled an aggressive Diego Costa) then regressed steadily into a liability.

I think he's gonna prove himself to be a great asset.

To come through that opening period showed maturity and huge mental strength, respect to him and I think we have a proper character and player in the building.

Totally agree. I'm sure he's going to be a great player for us. He had virtually no training before the match and I'm pretty sure he doesn't yet speak English.

Lazy journos couldn’t wait to criticise, they are miserable c*nts who don’t deserve their salaries. He did well to recover from his mistake, but I do think Akanji should have done better by telling him to leave it to him, probably a lack of communication.

A kanji probably didn’t know whether to shout in English, French, German, Italian or Schweitzerdeutsch. By which time it was too late.

Not sure where to write this, but I was a bit disappointed with Pep yesterday. He threw Khusanov straight in and then in his post match interview and press conference did very little to protect his young player. Just said it was a poor debut and that he’ll recover. He didn’t say any of the usual stuff that he could have said, ie ‘he did so so good to recover his composure’ etc.

Imagine being him in that first 5 mins, in front of 55,000 people. I hope he goes on to captain us in the future.

Well played, Khus!
I think Pep just treated him like one of the players - as opposed to a special case.
World be good if somebody could tell Khus about the comments across these threads, which are overwhelmingly positive.

It’s all well and good being a mathematical genius as well as speaking five languages, but surely it cannot be too much to expect a City centre half to also have at the very least a modicum of Uzbek
