Atmosphere 2024/25

I know we can’t play two new signings every week which added to the atmosphere yesterday (everyone was buzzing to see Marmoush), but you’re spot on.

We have the fanbase to create a great atmosphere, we just need to get the organisation and set-up right to have it consistently. There are ways round having hospitality, corporate and daytrippers who pay more around areas like 103-106 and 201-230, to allow NSL2 to become a proper home atmosphere stand. They can sell my seat in 105 for £2,500 a season if they want when I move to NSL2. But let NSL2 be for fans like me, across the board.

If we had a big drive now coming from the club, Supporters Club, City Matters, fan groups etc. for the next six months and promote it as our City Wall/Wonderwall/Blue Wall/93.20 Stand/Great Northern End… it would end up being that.

Not all those in the current singing sections have to move away from their areas if they want to stay near the away fans, but get a number of them plus all of us who are signers but not already in a singing area move to NSL2. If that happened, we’d have the best atmosphere in the league.

A big proper atmosphere stand that looked like this, would be arguably as marketable as the football team:

Imagine that noise from that if it was a proper atmosphere stand on days like yesterday afternoon/evening!

If it ends up being a bit of everything and therefore a bit of nothing, with no big drive by the club to make this something special, it will be a fucking massively wasted opportunity.

I’d genuinely be gutted to be honest.
'Two ends are better than one'

....and at the same time make SSL3/2 all City under that acoustic roof.

The noise from up there yesterday was excellent for 95 minutes.

For a variety of personal but legitimate reasons many in the SS wish to remain there.

All the singers in ESL110/111,who moved to that poor location to create a singing section, should be given priority to move to any available seat in the stadium for the same cost as their current ticket, fixed for 2/3 seasons.

I think NS2 will be mix of categories, but can still be a v noisy end with good 'leaders' up there.

SS3/2 IS CURRENTLY THE noisy end and could be even better if the ESL110/111 guys moved up there.

The SS MUST NOT become the forgotten orphan in the shadow of the NS.

Protecting and enhancing it is every bit as important as developing a noisy NS.

Imagine what the atmosphere would've been like yesterday with both ends bang at it ??

That's what we could have....and its worth fighting for !!

Two ends are not better than one.
One end is better than three.

I don’t agree with that. I’d argue 110/111 is the best area in level 1 for creating noise. It’s not spread out, it overlooks the away fans and when it gets going, it gets the entire east stand joining in. It’s always been louder than the rest of ss1 in my opinion.

I don’t see the benefit in losing one of the loudest areas in the ground.

Based on your suggestion I’d just make the home section of ss3 safe standing - the back ten rows or so. Then we’d have two singing ends each side of the ground

A stuck record ; )

had its quiet spells on saturday, but 2nd half was a great atmosphere compared to most games.

Chelsea were shit on the pitch and in the stands.

Lovely to see.
They were all gobby when they scored. When we scored they quietened down. When we scored 2nd they went quiet. When we scored 3rd they went home.

Lovely to see indeed : )

I am all for free speech but where is the evidence the club hates legacy fans?

In reality we never had more than about 35000 legacy fans and some of them are dead.
To fill a 65000 seater ground we need more newer fans. Many of the new fans may not come from Manchester but even in our darkest seasons we had fans who used to travel from overseas.
True(ish).

I used to return from my missionary work in Yaaarksherrrr.

You can see the difference at Liverpool this season, even their own fans have commented on Anfield being quieter. Slot plays a more patient build-up to Klopp and doesn’t have his team press like men possessed, and as a result (and possibly also due to more non-core Lpool fans in the new AR 2nd tier) their atmosphere isn’t as good.

Atmosphere was excellent against us, mind.
Cup finals are spesheel like laa.

I remember a Derby game , midweek, 52000, do not remember the score, but I do remember that on the Saturday we were at home again and there was less than 25000..
And yes we will need every paying spectator possible to regularly fill the 63000 ground.
We have never come close to a 60 + average in the history of the club.

As a start, ask the club to allocate 15% of the stadium capacity, split twixt SSL3 & NSL2, for low cost standing at the rear central zone of both stands.

9000.....4500 at each end.

The SSL3 element is already significantly accounted, for so it's not a major concession from the club.

With drums, trumpets and Polish megafones we might just get summat going.

nor had any of the other clubs that now have big capacities - spurs, wham, arsenal, utd etc
