Doubt that's that reason he 'ruled himself out', particularly after what their manager that didn't sound that shocked, said.

£55m is already more than I would pay for him. He's good, about as good as we can realistically get right now, but he's not good enough to be paying Marmoush money for. Especially not when we're in dire need of a midfielder.

The same article says Atalanta has put a £50m price tag on Ederson and are open to selling him in January
 
We are paying desperation money but it won't matter if we make the top 4.

As things stand, if we don't bring in a player who can play DM, even if coming in from right back, it will be touch and go for a CL spot in my opinion.
