Andrea Cambiaso

No idea what the sauce is but someone on another site is saying about the deal being close to being done for €70m.

Yeah everyone was saying how shit our transfer policies were whilst we were winning trebles, four in a row etc

You have to look forward and build for the future every time you win the title or you stand still and let the others catch up. Manchester City have gone to places that no other Premier League team has with the 4 in a row. City knew Pep knew we made a big mistake in the summer and we are not only talking about Rodri, We have far too many players at the age of 30 or more who are burned out and injury-prone,

Phil Foden said this week that he was mentally and physically burned out and he's only 24
City and Pep made a very big mistake last summer in the transfer market and now it's costing us in the winter transfer market

There is also an argument that we should have won the CL last season and for me in the end that defeat against Madrid gave us the PL title.

Rodri was the best player in the world last season but our midfield was him and if it had been even stronger we would have beaten Madrid.
We were the better team by a fair way over the 2 legs with Madrid, we lost on pens and were unlucky, it happens

Do you think reports of Pep seriously considering making this his last season in Manchester, affected last summer's transfer plans? EG, why let an outgoing manager begin a rebuild?

Pep slipped out his true intent on numerous occasions imo. When asked about the CWC directive that all clubs were compelled to bring their strongest squads, Guardiola replied no one selects his squad or team to play other than him, regardless what FIFA demands.

Those constant slip ups made me far more confident than not that he'd extend his contract. Pep also had far more faith in this squad's ability to go again for No 5 than most did, & we were hit by the perfect storm.

With Bobb, Rodri, KDB, Stones & Aké out injured, uncertainty around Pep's future & the squad being emotionally, mentally & physically rinsed dry, everything collapsed quite spectacularly for us around November as a result.

Our succession planning should have began the moment we completed the treble. The warning signs were already there that season, which Rodri highlighted when he complained he feared for his health through playing so much football.

I do think Pep 2 years extensions over the past 4 seasons have affected the team and club with the future plans in the transfer windows, It is not the only problem and PSR also has played a major part too. Pep is a big believer in you can only plan for your next game and on the football side of things he's spot on, So City are more to blame for this drop-off and should have taken over the matter

I can't see that happening with Pep at the helm. It's his squad. He's said several times that when he felt he needed a spot filling, Txiki would present a list of options for him to make a decision on.

If Pep says he's fine with the squad he's got, it's highly unlikely the club would go ahead & buy a player anyway & tell Pep to play him.

We were better but not fitter; we were missing legs in both legs, literally and figuratively. 17th April, for me, was the night when the amber light of early spring started flashing red. Perturbing that 10 months later we're still all scrambling around searching for solutions.

But clearly, Pep was wrong, without a cover for Rodri still missing and Phillips not good enough, 100% there was a gap in the Midfield that should have been redressed and also both wing-backs needed fixing,

Pep has said as much, he thought he could do another season with the squad. Though after the Paqueta episode, I’m not sure the reason we didn’t buy a midfielder last summer. Think there must have been other reasons behind not filling that spot last summer, and going off this month it can’t be financial.

You have to look at Pep's contract he only had 12 months left last summer, So did he want to run down the last 12 months and then leave City in a right old mess for the new manager. City needs to be clear in the future and don't let things run down and then try and fix them all at once

Doubt Cambiaso will be coming, at least not in this window. He came back early from an ankle injury to help Juventus against Napoli at the weekend and only lasted 45 minutes before going off with the same injured ankle. Lad now needs to recover from a recurring injury and then play consistently until the season’s end. Our interest will have been genuine, no doubt, and if we’re tripling his salary, as reported, I’m sure he’s keen to come. However, unless we’re also building an extension to the treatment room this week, then spending in excess of £50 million now for someone who is clearly injured and not ready to play, well that would be folly.

Many will be hopping mad if that's true!
