Club Brugge (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Thank fuck for that.

Why did we look so lethargic in the first half? Felt like we needed that Bruges goal to give us a kick up the arse.

The second half we came out of the blocks looking like City of old, passing quickly and giving their defenders problems.

Why we couldn’t do that in the first half, but were through. Bring on Real or Bayern next.

I thought Haaland and Foden were ok 2nd half. The set up first half didn't really help anyone. KDB was ok(ish) the whole game but his crossing and final ball wasn't great. His main problem is his legs can't really do it anymore and it leaves us short in the middle.

Foden was really good at getting control of the game from the middle of the second half. Haaland created his own chance. All 3 left their shooting boots at home though

A real microcosm of our issues at the moment. No defensive nous in midfield allowed them shots in dangerous areas. Nunes isn’t good enough to play for us, can’t defend and doesn’t deliver a good cross.

We’re not able to use KDB properly because our midfield around him lacks a defensive midfielder.

No idea what Pep was thinking with that starting team. No width and no idea what Gundogan’s role was. Savinho did really well when he came on. Good to see Stones back as well.

We desperately need to add a midfielder and right back if we’re to have any chance in this competition.

Fucking state of this, it would have benefited us going out of the champions league supposedly

He was good tonight. Anyone can have a brain fart. He was solid other than that.

These human beings aren’t robots who perform to perfection for your gratification.
You have some bizarre views mate but I’m genuinely lost for words if you’ve just watched that game and think he was good.

He was fucking diabolical.

Kevs brain is still there but his legs cannot do what his brain wants them to do (but like mine)

It was a proper game of two halves that.

First half was horrific - no pace, no energy and for all the possession we had, we looked like we were happy with a draw. It was typical of the football we've played a lot this season with no success. For some reason we tried to do it in a game we had to win.

The whole team was camped around their box when they broke and scored. You cannot defend like that unless you never, ever make mistakes when passing. It was schoolboy stuff to see how the break went and I've seen that 'one shot, one goal' so many times against us it's unreal.

If we try to play that slow, possession-based football against either RM or BM we will get hammered, simple as that. It's not worked all season and needs ditching ASAP. It doesn't work. It might've done years ago but coaches and teams have switched on now.

Second half was much better. I don't know why but a few on here don't seem to rate Savinho but I think he's going to be a world class player once he finds his place in a decent team. He literally changed the game tonight and that pace, energy and directness we needed. It was great to see him just running at players, getting them worried and causing problems. He was MOTM for me.

I'm not fussed who we play as if I'm honest, we will get beat. Our defensive set up is so bad that we will concede changes to either team. Our midfield doesn't protect the defence either. We absolutely need to figure out why we concede such shit goals and give ourselves so much to do.

We're not going to win the PL, so why not go 100% against our opponents in the next round? We've nothing to lose let's just go for it!!

Anyway, good result overall but we should never be anywhere near this position.

Wasn't the right lineup. I said prior to even going behind that we needed Foden off the left, Gundog off, Savinho on and for us to be more direct and attack quicker. First half was the usual slow boring build up which takes something special to create an attack. No surprise there wasn't a shot on target for us first half.

Credit to Pep for making that change at half time, even if it was 45 mins late. We looked miles better and dangerous straight away. Nunes was crap on the goal and Ederson could and maybe should have saved their goal. Job done, it now results in a very difficult two legged fixture crammed into what is already a shocking February fixture wise. If we sneak a defensive mid in before the window closes I will be a lot happier.
