but surely it does affect you? Look at the money wasted on HS2 and the billions about to be spent at Heathrow, I think the money from both would have been/would be better spent regionally?
The Government waste billions and realistically there is nothing I can do about it.
I agree the money would be better spent on regional regeneration but as there isn't anything I can do to affect where they spend it it's pointless worrying about it.
So if someone asked me if I was bothered about them spending £200m to regenerate Hackney or somewhere I would say I'm not interested or I'm against it rather than be in favour of it.
As my original post was asking why does the poster think that 100 random people from around the country would really be in favour of the Government spending £200m in the Trafford area..I'm pretty sure most would be either disinterested or probably against it as it doesn't affect them apart from thinking the money could/should be spent in their area.

I agree lack of investment in the North is well below what it should be but I was just asking why the poster thought that if a 100 people from all over the UK the vast majority would support the £200m investment around Trafford area..
Personally I wouldn't think any of them gave a toss unless they live in the North West...I know if it was £200m to fund London area I wouldn't be arsed as it doesn't affect me except for funding should be spread out more, rather than just the South benefitting.
But it’s not the South; just the South-East.

People like the government working to create private investment. It’s why Labour used it all the time in the run up to the election.

If someone told you public investment in Norwich would bring in 10x in private would you be angry about it? Or would you just say “yeah that’s what governments should be doing?”. That was the point I was making. It’s not an unpopular thing for government to facilitate private investment.

If it was in Norwich I wouldn't be arsed to be honest mate..
If it's not local then it doesn't really bother me..and I'm pretty sure most people would think the same..wasn't having a pop at you ..I was just curious why you thought 100 random people from all over would be for it..

Weirdly insular view IMO. Private investment all over the country benefits me (and you) if it creates jobs. Given how Labour made their “National Wealth Fund” and aim of attracting £3 of private investment for every £1 spent one of their biggest talking points in the run up to winning the election, I think it’s an idea that polled very well across the country.

How does private investment that happens in Norwich or London etc affect me...
But I was more interested in how you thought that a random 100 people from all over the country would mostly be happy about the Government investing £200m in Trafford..I'm pretty sure most would be either uninterested or rather it be invested in their own area.

Give over. Everyone was pissed off at the Conservatives. The only thing Labour needed to do was not drop any clangers and even then the country still had enough. Fucking £3 to every £1 my fucking arse.

I see there's media bullshit about Barcelona and that fucking run fast twat Rashford.

Rashford's PR team trying to keep him relevant. They want to send him to Gaza on a charidee mission. I'm sure Scruffy Jim will be checking players insurance. If he doesn't have to pay out for any injuries he'll allow it.

United Transfer Update
Sir Jim Ratcliife has finally admitted that Manchester United fell victim to a raft of fake scouting reports which are believed to have been leaked to them by Manchester City. As a result, the Red Devils bought a host of expensive flops including Harry Maguire, Alexis Sanchez and Fred amongst others.

Sir Jim reiterated that the Theatre of Dreams would never fall for this prank again and would move forward to secure the signings of Jacob Rees-Mogg, H from Steps and Skippy the Bush Kangaroo before deadline day.
Lol

Iirc when Van Haal was there a rag post did the rounds that said “if we keep on sacking the manager we’ll be just like Chelsea. If we spend millions and millions on umpteen new players we’ll be just like City. If all we do is go on about how good we used to be we’ll be just like Liverpool.”

Turns out, they did all three.

And they’re still shite.

I have it on good authority that Rashford has got a lot of personal demons to deal with. He’s heading down the George Best route, without his skill at football. I hope he stays and keeps drawing the wages - but I also hope United fulfill their duty of care and get him the treatment he needs. There are a few threads on here about how easy it is to fall from grace and just because you are wealthy does not mean you are immune to addictions.
Fuck United but I can’t wish ill on a troubled young man.
