.....only a question if Barca want to buy him in the summer, and if they do, they would have agreed that with Barca when we enquired, and already have told us to do one ;)Let's pretend for a minute it is true. Why would Porto sell him now?
Get 40m now and give 20% to Barcelona and lose a player for the rest of the season with no time to replace him. Or, get 30m straight up from Barcelona in the summer, with 6 more months of the player and a number of months to find a replacement. I know which I'd pick.
NoAre we going to end up with FDJ ?
City pay 30m for Barca, we get FDJ and they get Nico back ?

Well I'm definitely prepared to give Pep the nod on this over you tbhI've heard Barca fans talking about him and seemingly they didn't rate him that much. He's about the same height as Rodri is but not that good at physical duel, also as a CDM he's way too much aggressive and didn't contribute a lot defensively. Maybe he had a massive glow up in Porto idk, but probably he is neither the answer to fix our weak midfielder nor the guy to be the next Rodri.
When we were linked to him three or four years ago, I didn’t rate him at all—not even a little. I found him underwhelming, unimpressive, and simply too slow to understand why we were interested in him. At the time, Barcelona were trying to establish a midfield trio of Pedri (10), Gavi (8), and Nico (6), but Nico never quite lived up to expectations. Pedri and Gavi were thriving, dominating their roles, while Nico struggled to make a significant impact. Eventually, Barcelona let him go.I've heard Barca fans talking about him and seemingly they didn't rate him that much. idk Pep would check every player before we sign them. For example KP, I'm sure Pep was not the one who really wanted him.Well I'm definitely prepared to give Pep the nod on this over you tbh

That’s a fair shoutI have a conspiracy theory..
Porto don't like the 40% barca sell on fee.. so very likely we'll pay 30 odd mil for Nico and then some no name academy products will be headed to City for 10-15 mil each.
Yep, because we’ve got one or two transfers wrong, we need to doubt the credibility of the coach who has transformed football.idk Pep would check every player before we sign them. For example KP, I'm sure Pep was not the one who really wanted him.
Rodri didn`t set the world on fire in his first season and a half at City but look at what Pep turned him into. Could happen again with this lad. Every transfer is a gamble.I've heard Barca fans talking about him and seemingly they didn't rate him that much. Hopefully I was wrong about him, really for me the concern is about how Nico could contribute for us defensively. If we signed him, I definitely hope he would be a great player for us.When we were linked to him three or four years ago, I didn’t rate him at all—not even a little. Fast-forward to now—he took that personally. Now he has fire in his belly. He made it a mission to improve, and to his credit, he has. But despite his progress, he’s still not the quickest. And last I checked, one of our biggest concerns is the lack of pace in midfield, which has left us vulnerable to being overrun and outpaced. That said, perhaps Nico has improved in other areas—his vision, positional awareness, and spatial intelligence might have taken a leap.
He’s certainly doing well for Porto, and compared to his time at Barcelona, he looks like a far more refined and improved player. There’s clear growth, but whether it’s enough to address our needs remains to be seen. Perhaps the fire in his belly will certainly make him a world beater in time. Apart from the lack of pace, I have grown to appreciate what he has become. I can not wait for Pep to coach him into being a world beater.
Chill, When did I say I doubt the credibility of Pep? That clearly was not my point. Hopefully next time you can actually read my comment and understand the context before you type.Yep, because we’ve got one or two transfers wrong, we need to doubt the credibility of the coach who has transformed football.
Classic “I don’t know the truth, I’m just asking questions here” nonsense that populist social media no nowts spout.
I did. I stand by my response.Chill, When did I say I doubt the credibility of Pep? That clearly was not my point. Hopefully next time you can actually read my comment and understand the context before you type.
