Time to bring him home then.he is an 8, who needs an enforcer behind him to sweep up, put in tackles, stop attacks.
Kante did this at Chelsea very well.

I agree. His positioning goes awry though. He will never be a Rodri as he lacks the sixth sense of where he should be when we don’t have the ball.He's doing his best and working his arse off for the team. He can't be blamed for the fact players ahead and behind him aren't performing. A wonderful goal. Some of his passing still frustrates me as it's often a little bit behind the player and not as crisp as it could be, but he's been one of our best players this season.

I know this doesn’t matter to some but I do appreciate his effort. His “bad” games seem less a result of lack of effort and more just a lack of skill. He obviously isn’t the best in the world, but that’s okay - he’s still a valuable player. Hes also incredibly well spoken and humble. I imagine he’s a good teammate. No one will disagree with that pal. Rodri's positioning is exceptional and his physicality means he helps us completely boss the opposition and pen them in. I said after the Arsenal game, the change in momentum from his injury was staggering. The signs were there then. We had them penned in and it was similar to the game against Real. Arsenal kept trying to get clear but Rodri just read everything. Anything in the air he wins, anything into space he's predicted and then he just runs the game from deep and our attacking players are free to move into space knowing he's got them covered defensively.
Whilst Kovacic is never going to be as good (who is?!) it also feels like the majority of the attacking line just don't bother working as hard off the ball now Rodri is out...

His goal isn't getting anywhere near the credit it deserves. Had that goal been scored by a more attacking player it goes down as a wonder goal and is shown on repeat constantly. He's carried it from the halfway line and slotted it into the corner. It's a phenomenal goal.

Previously I've been a fan due to him looking to find Haaland early and his quality dribbling, but he's so unbelievably poor off the ball.

Least of our problems? He’s the biggest problem because he cannot play as a 6. Obviously it’s not really his fault, but he’s just awful defensively

"Its not so much that he attempts a risky pass; its that he chases his own risky pass vacating the space in the middle of the field. Hes never setting up for the one-two, hes ball-watching his own play and leaving the transition defense out to dry. Its embarrassing."
Kovacic would look fantastic next to a responsible control midfielder. Its just wild to me that a professional with Kovacic's experience doesnt understand that he can't vacate the space with his current deployment on the field.

His problems defensively start at his unnecessary risk-taking when we're on the ball. That said his propensity to jump forward at the earliest opportunity in a transition consistently eliminates him from the playLeast of our problems? He’s the biggest problem because he cannot play as a 6. Obviously it’s not really his fault, but he’s just awful defensively
