Surely we've grown to be better than that.?? Have we set our sights that low now?

So if United finished 15 and we finished 14th you'd class it as a successful season??

too fucking right i do

For me, the scum did just that for 40 years of rubbing our noise in the mud

It certainly wouldn't be successful, it'll be worrying as to how we'd dropped of so far to finish above them by one place though.

They shouldn’t sign long contracts then. Players win and then decide that’s it? Iv done enough now so I won’t bother trying. This is a what it looks like at times tbf.

You can still have pride tho. A certain professionalism to not get hammered.

Lots of good questions but for me the players are not good enough anymore and that is mainly down to poor recruitment. We have bought inferior players to replace superior players.

Agree with the end of the season. The whole club needs a reset.
Players will feather their own nests , just maybe some of them had no idea Txiki was leaving , some will have signed new contracts before the treble or four in a row ? I mean who is signing these new players ? I’d be pretty pissed off if I was the new DOF , watching the current one , spending my warchest before I’ve even started the job? That’s odd in itself , we have ever only made the odd signing in January before , but here we are , buying 3/4/5 players in the January window ? It’s like giving an alky money to spend on some cans before the off license shuts down ? Don’t you think that’s a bit odd ?

Not sure about that,

If they are under contract then someone has to stump up

Others out of contract will know they won't get an extension.

Who is going to buy John Stones for example and match his wages.

I keep saying it in every thread but remain baffled to why Jack Grealish isn't playing.
Jacks more interested in modelling clothes , he’s had one good season and that’s it , very likeable lad , but a grafter and City player he ain’t.

Yep - was surprised when Mahrez left virtually as soon as he felt like a bit player, considering what he was leaving.
I'll be absolutely gobsmacked if Jack doesn't want out - doubly, considering the poor results. If he can't get in this team, What's his chance, really?

It’s certainly raises some interesting questions.

Far too timid in the market. Especially when it comes to buying high quality players. We all love the unknown but I also want stellar signings to compliment the squad.

It may sound spoilt but that’s the club we are or supposed to be. Pep’s pull doesn’t seem to be helping us either.

I genuinely don’t know what’s happened. The ffp case may be behind the lack of vigour in the market.

Just maybe the players know this is the end of the line , they pushed to make it a record 4 in row ? The treble done , what have they left to really show anymore, just maybe they want out now , can you blame them ? The only thing the club has got wrong , well not really wrong , is underestimating just how much it’s taken out of the players , and manager , Txiki leaving is the real big one here ? Peps lifelong confidente is leaving , and with that , this club just won’t be the same again , the players are milked dry , nothing left to give but pride for themselves , the manager and the club ? And the transition now is becoming more painful than we ever imagined.
Will Pep stay to build a new team ? 50% at least of this team has done its best.
End of the season can’t come quick enough , it’s painful to watch the demise , we will get fleeting glances of what we were , but this team is finished.
I reckon this is correct. We pushed for 4 in a row and honestly, the players might of just had the fill of it. Nothing more to play for. And honestly, that's ok. It happens. Eventually you come down and this is what happens.

Not to rehash everyone's take as I was so shocked I stayed away until now but. Best player on pitch was Bernardo. Just his workrate alone. We missed Ederson today. Ortega had no inkling of going Route 1. Should have saved at least one of those goals. Foden missing passes today. They went up 2-1 and we caved in. At that point, Pep should have subbed within 5 minutes of that goal. Instead Pep waits 16 minutes after Partey's goal and after we're down another. KDB and McAtee weren't gonna rescue anything at that point.

Will Pep come back? 50-50 I think. He seems worn out. We're seeing the end. And as you say, PL season can't end fast enough. Try for top 4. See if we can manage 0-0 against the madrista c*nts.

I don't think there was really too much in it until Foden dropped his clanger, and handed Arsenal an initiative that we never recovered from .... Up until that point Arsenal might have added to the one goal that they did score, but equally Gvardiol and Savinhio might have scored for City, and Haaland took our equaliser well enough.

What happened after that is best forgotten, just a complete and utter capitulation from a City side who should know better .... I'm afraid it was just the usual story in the end, too many mistakes made, too many balls given away, and too many goals and points conceded!

This playing out 'from the back' lark is always gonna cost us goals if the pass is aimed at City players who are being tightly marked, sometimes by more than one opponent, Ortega put Kovacic in trouble, John Stones put Akanji in trouble etc ...... we would be better off just hoofing the ball upfield and hoping for the best, we might win the high ball, and the chances are that we probably wouldn't concede as many goals ..... but playing risky or ridiculous passes right in front of our own box is always likely to end in disaster!

Yet we are spending circa £150-170m on 3/4 players ?
Why not go taters deep on two top drawer ones ? Same outlay but less combined wages ?
All it bit piss poor tbh , this new kid in defence has flop written all over it , a bit premature maybe , but he’s got Mangala written all over him in my book , we should have gone for Branthwaite from Everton for me.

Pep looks knackered and I hope he doesn’t ruin his legacy by staying too long.

A very telling moment was when Gabriel was on the floor tugging at Haaland's shorts and telling him to get his boots, Haaland actually extended his hand and offered to lift him back up, which Gabriel shrugged off... Haaland will already be looking forward to their next game.

The 'stay humble' comment rattled their entire club, and they reacted by being totally classless and undignified, en route to winning absolutely nothing. Fuck em.
And totally proved Erling’s point

Our recent transfers have been a bit hit and miss. I think another problem has been squad size. We just can't go out and sign players without others leaving. However, I think this summer could well be when this is properly addressed.

Can’t judge Khus on a few bad mins. Akanji didn’t help either. Look what he’s at today.

Maybe we have no wiggle room regarding wages? Maybe big players won’t come because of 115?

I genuinely don’t know what’s going on? Something doesn't add up. A lot of unknowns.
