No ,trying to budget and spread the payments it seems. As he was never going to play agains arsenal it makes no difference.

Well, there is something in between "we all thought" and "no-one thought". Many thought it was the right call, and many thought it was a terrible decision to sell him. No need to get into another discussion on why/if etc but stating that "we all" thought it was a great deal at the time is simply not true.
