I understand this caution but there is another way of looking at it. This season is as good as finished for us unless we somehow pull a miracle off in the champions league. The fa cup is a possibility if the draw is kind and our form and injuries improve. We only have to win five more games to win that. Perhaps the club are getting our targets in early to bed them in before next season?

Now's a pre-season. We got the major rebuild wrong by a season, made harder by not knowing what Pep was doing, the charges, DoF leaving, and bad injuries. It happens and the errors are being addressed. I don't know what more people want sometimes. It's elite sport with the razor thin margins of error.

See this season as an extended pre-season a top four/five finish will fix.
