Does anyone know much about him or our plans for him ? Can we expect to see him around the first teams or is he EDS for now ?

no one knows. EDS and some first team training call ups would be my guess.

I would be surprised if he is not training with the first team.
What happens then, who knows. He is very highly regarded and I imagine it is quite unusual for a player plying his trade in the US to still play for England through the levels (U16, U17, and U18).

So you figure City supporters would swallow losing young players to NYCFC without complaint if NYCFC was the bigger club? Bullshit. Try it with someone else.

NYCFC only exists because City's owners bought the franchise and created them. They've been in existence for about 12 years, so we've got at least 5 years on them if you go with our 2008 creation, or you could throw 100+ on that if you like. Our owners could pull their funding instead of the players and the club would disappear elsewhere and be called Kansas City FC instead.

NYCFC is a franchise. MLS was shopping the franchise around and CFG made a viable offer. If CFG didn't buy a franchise in the wealthiest city in the world someone else gladly would.

Have we signed this lad? Bizarre theres been no website announcement unless I missed it and no mention of his squad number etc?
I think thats just down to him not being seen as a first team signing. I obviously dont know but considering he was a bench player in MLS I cant imagine he is close to being first team ready here.

I think it was around 2006 when the idea of a second team in NY was scoped, with the Red Bulls' exclusivity period ending (fucking joke in itself). 2012 was when Soriano got on board with the idea. So there wasn't a long fucking list of takers. It was big money and big investment to get things off the ground. They're building a new stadium and are committed to the club. But the best players will want to come to City, or Girona rather than stay in a nothing league in the US. Those are the facts. The fans might not like it, but the club didn't exist without the owners so they can get over it.

It's quite different to a club in Manchester formed in the 1800s and losing one of its talents to a bigger team. But as others said, we were gutted SWP left but completely understood his desire to leave and our need to sell.

The second franchise wasn't finalized until 2010. The $100 million franchise fee is not big money in NY; the Mets have spent $1.6 billion on players in the past few years (and there are no transfer fees in baseball). Someone very wealthy would have bought that franchise if CFG hadn't.

I'm not blaming the players who will obviously prefer Europe to the MLS. But expecting the fans to be pleased is deluded.

The owners of the Mets weren't interested first time around. They might be now, thanks to CFG's investment. The fans don't need to be happy but they shouldn't whinge about it or be against the ownership.

Former owners. They were in financial straits, but I'm certain MLS would have found someone else. An American sports franchise is a license to print money if you have the cash to buy in. NYCFC are worth $1bn today.

Maybe the fans shouldn't whinge about CFG, but like I said they're still playing in a baseball stadium 10 years on and their record signing is $8mm. It's not like they went from Jon Macken to Kun Aguero and have won 8 titles in 12 years. They have less to be grateful for (and I have noticed a lack of gratitude on BM occasionally despite having the best owners in the game).

It's New York City. It isn't Iowa. NYC is a "majority minority" city. Roughly twenty five percent of the Muslim population of the US lives in NYC. I'd be surprised if it is a racial thing. Not saying it isn't, but it would surprise me if it were.
Wouldnt surprise me. The US is a fucking weird place now.

There isn't much reason for NYCFC fans to care more about City compared to any other club. Before they were awarded a franchise they would have consisted of your typical share of reds and Barca fans. If anything, they will have a sense of resentment as their club is a minor cog in CFG. Chicken Little syndrome

How is this CFG's fault? By all accounts we had a deal setup for a new stadium at Flushing Meadows, but the locals were up in arms over it because of congestion fears. That was apparently the major hold up.

The new stadium had to be limited to 30000 capacity to stop the Americans moaning & get the deal over the line. The new $3bn City Park project will deliver thousands of affordable homes & jobs, a retail park, hotels, a school/college & is expected to deliver $6bn in economic benefits, but Hank & Skylar are STILL whining! There's no pleasing some people...
