So the BC isn’t mainstream?

And Sty is no more mainstream than TNT.
Come off it mate, their is a massive bias to ex united and Liverpool players on more or less every single football related live game, football debate show, fan related programmes.

We get the odd match day host like Hart and Lescott, or that fucking buffoon Micah Richards.

The overlap fan debate programme only the other week had Keane, Scholes, Neville and Carragher hosting it, there was some City fan on there, and with the help of that Adam Mckola they basically teamed up on him about FFP, and basically peddling the myth that our revenue is bent, Carragher said no way have City got a bigger revenue than Madrid, United and Liverpool.

You’d have thought he’d have had a haircut and “freshened” himself up a bit if he’s ACTUALLY looking for a “fresh start!”

I’m wondering, given Villa’s fast break mentality, he’s going to be fit for more than a few sub appearances for the next few weeks. Hard to believe he could be anywhere near match fit!
Definitely a true professional who has kept himself fit the last few months……

I wasn’t arguing that there isn’t a big bias towards the two cheeks. I just pointed out that ex-City players were slower emerging as pundits.

Also, I pointed out that the BBC is a mainstream broadcaster.

Carragher should be made to show us the information he obviously has to back this up.
When he can't should be hit with a cease and desist and made to publicly apologise.

Rag sources say Villa are paying 75%…. LOL

His weekly wage of 325k was only guaranteed if they were playing in the Champions league, so he has to take a 20% cut. That brings it down to 260k.

Villa pay 75% of 260k = 195k
Ineos FC still pay him 65k per week.
If Villa get to the latter stages of the CL, it goes to 90% which would be 234k

Still a massive risk for someone who seems to be phoning it in and on some sort of 18 month bender.

If Amorim took one look at him and said, "not for me", why would Unai Emery be any different?

despite them being way off since Sir Alex Baconface left a decade ago, this could be the first time that they dont qualify for CL in 2 consecutive seasons which shows current drop off is much larger than the previous regimes under Mourinho, Ole at the wheel, Ten Hag etc.

still they have an outsider chance if they win the EL as that comes with a CL place, but very unlikely given their home losses in the league vs way worse clubs than some of more decent clubs left in CL. Bilbao, Lazio, Tottenham, Frankfurt surely wont lie down to them if they meet.

Chances are if they get Sociedad in last 16 of EL those Spanish ones can imo send them out of competition already. Even Galatasaray would give them a fair fight.

another bonus in them not being in CL twice in a row is that some of their sponsors might have reductions built into their contracts. which is only fair if you sign up to sponsor a regular CL team and that teams manages to becomes a regular non-CL team...

even Chelsea couldnt find a shirt sponsor deal I think it has lot to do with not being in CL neither in 23-24, 24-25. for them its crucial to do it this season and get back into CL imo. can see them firing Maresca if he only comes in 6th haha.

Ruben Interim at the moment is doing since he took over 14 points of 39 points. to be fair its not much worse than our recent run, but we have our own troubles but he was brought in to improve on Ten Hag and actually Tenn Hag had a tiny bit better points average even this season.

Interim is doing 14 points in 13 PL games. and thats heavily helped by Nunes gifting them the derby. evenwhen they hosted the absolute shit Southampton they were losing until 84th minute or something...
and even last week beating Fulham it took a fucking lucky deflected goal that fell into the net from that stupid Martinez shot such an unlikely winner also late in the game. so even the 14 points Amorim did was full of lucky situations kind of. should have been even less imo.

I cant see them winning their next two PL games either, Spurs away, Everton away. Postecoglou and Moyes will not want to lose to these. Moyes will enjoy putting the boot into them haha.
chances are Interims first 15 league games they will do something like 14-15 points.

having said that thats a serious underperformance from the manager as while their squad has big issues no way it should only do 1 point per game on average. there are lot lesser squads on much better average.
thats 38 points over a full season basically.just above relegation zone level of trajectory. in some rare years it would be even relegation worthy albeit recent years 38 points was mostly enough.

Interim is lucky now basically that Ten Hag and Horseface interim did a tiny bit better than him in first third of the season and thats gives them enough extra points to be bit safer above Everton, Wolves and the promoted clubs etc.

On the weekend that his new manager joined the club, instead of focusing on getting back into the England squad, or working on his form at Carrington, he was in New York, cos-playing as a rapper.

Says it all, really.

Judging by the complete lack of panic buying in the transfer window, it seems obvious that Ineos are happy to write off this season. Amorim said early on that things are going to get much worse before they get better. Looks like they are going smash it all to bits, and start again in the summer.

Problem they have is the same that every manager or regime have had since Moyes. And that is expectation. 73,000 people aren't going to applaud their team getting stuffed at home every week. And the media will tear into them. Ten Hag turned up with his own playing style, and he abandoned it after 2 losses. Mourinho and Van Gaal did the same. Turned them into a defensive minded outfit, with everyone behind the ball, with fast counter attacking. And it brought them top 4 finishes, but they never properly challenged for the title or got anywhere in the CL latter stages. It was just a sticking plaster over a gaping wound.

Amorim is very adamant that he is not changing his tactics, even when it is clear that the players can't play it. He seems happy so watch them fail every week. They are 10 points above relegation, so seems unlikely that they will get sucked into it. And I agree that they haven't got the firepower to do anything in a very weak Europa league.

It's actually staggering how they all seem so at ease with it. People paying 66 quid to watch them lose, and consistently be the underdog in every game. It's like self harm. I'm just waiting for that bubble to burst, but if it hasn't already, what more needs to happen? A financial irregularity that deducts points and sticks them in the championship for a season? Amorim would probably enjoy that, to get rid of players and re-build the squad.

Are we seeing the start of a real decline for them

I know they’ve been a laughing stock for over a decade but even in that time they’ve won a few trophies , which is scant reward for the money they’ve spent

They are now in the territory of having to sell before they can buy , with limited saleable assets to fund any new purchases

They need a massive rebuild if they are throwing their lot behind the latest manager.

But with every season they are out of Europe, means less revenue to put towards this rebuild

They could be trapped in lower mid table for the foreseeable

In any other era they would have already been relegated but their enormous spending has insulated them from this fate

Just look at the players they are seriously linked with now, loans for other teams flops, punts on young players that have been performing for small clubs. It’s only two years ago they were linked with signing Harry Kane

I think next season could be a car crash , can’t wait

They'll spend 200m in the summer but it be fine because they'll find someway with the premier league to get away with it as always!

Joleon is on TNT for our games regularly.

Joe Hart is on the BBC a fair bit, so it’s coming, albeit slowly.
Micah needs to go though… broadcasters should be all over Nedum… but presumably as he’s not a household name, doesn’t scream and shout, has decent insight and knowledge… then they bypass him for … Warnock!

I agree wholeheartedly about Nedum; he’s brilliant, IMHO. Articulate, knowledgeable and good looking.

Stephen fucking Warnock is hardly a household name, and he talks a load of shit, but he played for Littlewoods, so that’s alright.

That's what's quite odd about its obvious to absolutely everyone, he looks more or less finished. Are villa that blind to it? Especially Emery? If he's a bad influence in the united dressing room, why on earth will he be any different in Villas?
