Sam Kerr

End of nothing. Each case is different. I believe this is exactly the advice they give if in close proximity to a police station to sort out such arguments. Refusing to pay for a service is theft, just like stealing. If in a black cab it is perfect because the doors can be locked and the driver has a protective screen. In a private hire vehicle probably not a great solution.
Personally I'd say kick the shit out of them, rub their faces in the spew then if they had any cash on them take it and leave them on the kerb.

You can't imprison someone in a taxi. Yes end of. That's literally what the law says. Your other suggested courses of action are also illegal.

The police shouldn't be asking taxi drivers to bring volatile drunks to the station for them. And if a taxi driver came go harm as a result of that the police would be in deep shit.

She has always been an average role model at best and unable to handle her grog at the best of times but often talent on the field gives you a leave pass at least when it comes to the type of behavior she exhibited in the taxi and subsequently at the police station.

I have had the 'pleasure" of listening to one of her drunken tirades at the Hilton in East Melbourne before she had to be escorted from the scene by her minders before it got nasty so I am not surprised she has been busted in this case its long overdue.

Given her endorsements and commercial appeal you would think she would know better and while her brothers long history of domestic violence would be difficult for her to deal with as it would any sibling its no excuse for her childish and violent behavior which she engaged in.

A simple apology and payment for the damage she caused and all would have been resolved but no she had to take it further.

Calling someone stupid and white and or white and stupid is as racist a slur as calling someone black and stupid etc whether you are black or white or any other color for that matter.

When asked whether it was she said no it wasn't because she didn't say it or remember saying saying (LOL) when sober apparently.

Not only is she a footballer but clearly lacking in reason and basic rationale , a little light on top one would say.

Is she inferring if someone else said it , it would be racist.

Why did she have to mention someone's color in any of the exchange with police FFS.

If convicted of damage to property being drunk and disorderly in a public place and whatever other charges have been laid she should lose all of her endorsements and be stripped of her captaincy of the national team for starters.

if not it is still a bad look and she should not play in the shirt again , as for Chelsea well they have probably moved on from Kerr after her injury and don't need her anymore.

Good post, this.

So on that basis you can't imprison somebody inside a store who's shoplifting? Those people are often detained and kept there by force too.

They're not asking them to bring them to the station for their benefit but for the benefit of the poor taxi driver who wants his money. It's also not an order but a suggestion, he doesn't have to do so if he doesn't want to. I guess he did a mental risk evaluation and thought if they became physically aggressive rather than verbally he could handle it.

Show me the law that says you can't detain a person who is robbing you and use reasonable force to do so
( Refusing to pay for a service is the same)

Of course my other suggestions are illegal but I knew a few lads where I grew up who did a runner from taxi drivers, got caught and received a good hiding. They didn't complain or go to the police as they knew that was part of the risks for the actions they took. If a few more scrotes like Kerr and her ilk got a short sharp shock for their behaviour growing up they might have turned out to be better adults.

She sounds like a right ****. Got pissed, threw up out the window and the taxi driver quite rightly wanted to charge them for it. If she wasn't pissed out her head she'd have paid up and moved on. Behaved like an arrogant prick and is now playing the "I was scared" card which is bollocks.

She didn't look scared mouthing off to the copper. Also football has made her extremely wealthy she could have easily paid. Entitled arrogance got her into this mess entirely of her own making.

Seems to me a spell at the station sobered her up a tad and she thought the race card would do her nicely.

The sportsmen and woman you really admire are those that live by humility or quickly learn how to move on from their petulance both on and off the playing field.

Roger Federer a case in point , Kerr is not fit to be in the same room as him.

The bottom line is you are a decent human being first, your job is just something you do. If you're a **** in general then you'll be a **** flipping burgers or playing elite sport. It looks like Kerr is the latter.

Sydney Morning Herald reporting that she called (allegedly) the taxi driver
“Stupid white bastard”
As she is mixed race, I do wonder how the white members of her family feel about her saying such things? She could easily call someone a "stupid basted" or "stupid" and not disparage part of her family as well.

Drunk as a skunk, smashed a cab window and racially abused a police officer.

Makes you wonder why they didn't bake the **** a cake doesn't it?

Fucking pathetic. Seemed to think the cab driver should have cleaned the mess himself and probably should have asked her for an autograph at the same time. Behaved like a twat so the police got involved, behaved like more of a twat and got the treatment she deserved. Racially abuses one of the policemen and now claims they treated her differently because of her skin colour.... fucking ridiculous.

Is the BBC only reporting the defence side of the story or will they publish the prosecution side as well?
On the race angle her partner who was with her was white and I wouldn't guess Kerr wasn't until she pointed it out.
Have you actually seen her face?

The whole "we were scared."

"Why didn't you call the police?"

"We aren't from England. We don't (didn't) know the telephone number."

I was paraphrasing but it's close. It sticks with me. I'm not buying they didn't know the emergency phone number for the police.

Mewis has been in London since 2023 and Kerr since since 2020. There is no way they did not know the number to ring the police. I'd think, at the least, when foreign players arrive staff at their clubs would mention, "If you ever have an emergency dial 999."

It just makes me think they were behaving badly after a night out. Why call the police in yourselves? As for being scared, maybe. But, I also know some people lie and don't wish to own up to bad behaviour.

Do you even need to know the number these days? Most phones have SOS features in this day and age.
