Like I said, it's the same in the UK. We have a government focused on repeating nonsense about a £22bn black hole however they miss every single day that the UK fiscal deficit is £120bn, not £22bn. Nobody has any sense to challenge this, they just forgo it and go about their day because they'd rather not talk about it because it's too hard.

It doesn't change the fact that the whole thing is a nonsensical mess that somebody must eventually break apart to fix, there's no other choice.

Russell Vought, the newly installed director of the Office of Management and Budget, directed the CFPB, in a Saturday night email confirmed by The Associated Press, to stop work on proposed rules, to suspend the effective dates on any rules that were finalized but not yet effective, and to stop investigative work and not begin any new investigations. The agency has been a target of conservatives since President Barack Obama pushed to include it in the 2010 financial reform legislation that followed the 2007-2008 financial crisis.
The email also ordered the bureau to "cease all supervision and examination activity."

I would only fear Trump if he starts to change the democratic system and that's a danger but I can't see it happening. Whatever happens is endurable and you have to just hope that maybe some good is done? Some of the attacks on governmental waste for example has to be applauded.

Personally I think it is refreshing because politics always needs refreshing and Trump just represents that change although obviously the direction is quite extreme.

Sometimes it is just necessary however maybe it'll make the Democrats think twice about putting billionaire celebrities on stage because their candidates message is so ineffective.. And because they think the electorate are just too stupid.

Here's a question for you, what if Trump's agenda of increasing energy production, securing the border, removing illegal immigrants, promoting merit, reducing taxes, removing onerous regulations, eliminating waste and reducing the size of government, promoting the reshoring of manufacturing, prioritizing the American worker, protecting women's sport and safe spaces, bringing about the peaceful resolution of conflict, and instituting reciprocal tariffs, actually works and proves popular?

Here's another one, why shouldn't a president who is elected promising to do things actually do them?

it's very easy to make promises and to carry out those promises when you're the biggest bloke, have removed any checks and balances and have no consideration for the consequences of those actions.

Expand your hypothesis for a moment, and include use military force to get what you want in Panama, in Greenland, in Gaza, what then? Does it make you popular in 'merica? In might do amongst the rednecks who voted him in, but what about the wider picture? Does the opinion of the rest of the world, or a significant majority of it anyway, count for nothing?

Because he does not care about the consequences of pursuing said actions on other people and because his extensive track record indicates that his plans will not be successful.

But he has a mandate. He has votes in both houses of Congress. There are zero reasons he shouldn’t be successful at pursuing those things.

But when he doesn’t, once again as per his track record, he will lie and say he did or blame others. And that won’t even matter, because his supporters will believe he accomplished them anyway.

But I guess the ends justify the means. Right?

Do you think that isolating America while simultaneously closing down important govt agencies, throwing people out of work and potentially taking over Canada, Greenland, Gaza and, possibly, parts of Ukraine are good ideas?

Did anyone mention any of this before, never mind actually vote for any of it?

Perhaps you missed it. There has been an election since 2020. The guy who won that election is who they are cheering. They do so because he is President and they hope he succeeds.

Regardless of how you personally feel about the winner, there is nothing unusual about cheering the President of a country. It happens everywhere.
