No team gets everyone they want. RM are very vocal with the “we didn’t want him anyway” once they lose a target.

I feel a little bit of the old “little City” creeping in since we are currently not smashing teams.

With or without Pep, City can compete with anyone in the transfer market.

You said everyone he wants. What does that have to do with the others that didn’t wanna come? Also number 1 and 3 joined under Pellegrini.

Nope.

No 3 (Rodri) joined in summer 2019. Pep had already been at City for three years by then.

Nothing to do with Pellegrini.

And KDB joined in Summer 2015, the summer before Pep’s arrival - with very strong rumours (both at the time and in subsequent years) that the signings from that summer were bought following consultation with Pep, and with his taking over as Manager very much part of the sales pitch.

My understanding is that Pep requested that KDB, Sterling & Stones were all in the squad by the time he arrived, with Stones being signed that summer in 2016.

Pellegrini telling a press conference that Pep was coming in the February of that year, kinda confirms the strong rumours imo...

Bayer have said a few times they don’t want to sell to Bayern.

RM are stacked in midfield already.

There was a German sports journalist on one the Athletics podcasts a couple of weeks ago and his opinion, given the above, was that if he left Bayer he would go to City.

Just his opinion, but those that say it’s impossible are wide of the mark.

Rodri is undeniably a Pep signing. I’m not even sure why you would remotely associate him with Pellegrini. Pep has been at City for 8.5 years, and Rodri has been here for 5.5 years—his arrival was very much a part of Pep’s long-term vision for the team.

As for Kevin De Bruyne, I’ve heard that Pep personally instructed Txiki to secure his signing from Wolfsburg. Some may argue otherwise, but from what I understand, Pep saw KDB as a key piece of his midfield blueprint even before taking charge.

I can defo see him signing . Then warming the bench for a big CL next season and Bernardo gets the nod .

Yes can definately see him replace other massive wage earner(s) we already have - which many forget is a significant factor when talking signing world class players . . .
The top/elite players insist on elite wages, even if we miss out on CL next season if we offer elite wages we will get the signatures.
