It's quite simple, Russia invaded a sovereign country at Putin's command. He is a war criminal, he has committed war crimes; he doesn't get to sit down at a negotiation table and walk away with something that isn't his after slaughtering thousands of innocent civilians. And if you think appeasement will stop him going for more; well then unbury your head from the sand.

You're excellent at describing the problem and I don't disagree but.... how are you going to achieve what your objectives are if there are to be no negotiations? The only realistic option available is to continue and/or escalate the bloody battles which I'd like to believe nobody wants to see.

America is supposed to be the most powerful country in the world with the most powerful, strongman President in the world. If that’s true, why doesn’t he tell Putin to get his troops out otherwise the USA will get even more involved supporting Ukraine, crayoning more of those sanctions to further freeze Russia out?

Trump admires Putin and is implementing Putin's mode of government.

Trump loathes Zelensky and wants revenge for his refusal to frame Hunter Biden and Trump's subsequent impeachment.

Trump doesn't give two shits either way what happens to the people of Ukraine.

The world has changed. America under Trump is Russia's ally. We and the rest of the free world are America's enemy.

That's not what Trump has in mind, Trump only understands power, Ukraine is weak and has nothing Trump wants, Russia is strong and undoubtedly has something he wants.

Trump wants a global settlement along the lines of the Yalta conference at the end of the 2nd World War where the great powers carved up the post war world. Trump is happy for Russia to take chunks of Ukraine, maybe China to take Taiwan, while he covets Greenland, the Panama Canal and threatens Canada.

He sees Palestine purely in terms of power, Israel has won this war, Palestinians are weak, they have nothing Trump wants except the real estate they presently live in, their political aspirations mean nothing, they're too weak for them to be even acknowledged. Egypt and Jordan are hooked on the Yankee Dollar and can be bullied.

That's how Trump sees the world.

Well the best way would be for Russia to fuck off home and pay for the rebuilding of the Ukraine towns and villages it has completely destroyed. Now if mango shitgibbon starts his negotiation at that point, I'd consider changing my opinion of the fat war mongering ****

Suppose a judge somewhere decides he wants to rule on whether Donald Trump can have JD Vance as his Vice President on the grounds that JD may not be married to an American and thus this might constitutes a potential conflict of interests for the Country. Based on that claim the judge orders a temporary injunction barring JD as Vice President until the Judge is able to have a full hearing on the facts...

That is why Europe needs to step up. Honestly can’t see that happening though. Too many dissenting countries in the EU and too many leaders with domestic issues that prevent them doing what’s right.

We know he’s had a discussion with Trump. He’s obviously trying to butter him up to try and stop him from withdrawing support. That isn’t a negotiation of terms with Russia.
