Stop Crying Your Heart Out Rodri Banner

I would agree but what about the banner at the swamp, that pissed off us big time and made them look very small time.

Rodri rightly won the Ballon D'or, that in itself is enough.
No doubt that there are some double standards being displayed by fans over certain banners. Personally, the ticker banner over at The Swamp never pissed me off as much as it did other fans. I even had an issue when they took it down for the 50th anniversary match because if fans can't take the piss out of each other then it's time to give up.

On the flip side, a lot of fans complaining about the Rodri banner and calling it small time lapped up the Tevez "Welcome to Manchester" poster. I don't seem to recall a single City fan ever calling that one small time even though United would go on to beat us 3 times with last minute winners during Tevez's first season with us.

You're a grown man, who has taken offence by my opinion on a banner and you want to stalk my profile to see what I've historically posted. You crack on you weird crank. I've been a season ticket holder since 92 but if you need someone to vouch for me, you can speak to Ric if you want.
I just don't buy that you're a City fan, given the vitriol you've spouted on this thread and to top it all you're moaning that it's gone to 40-odd pages, despite being partly responsible for that yourself.

If you are a City fan, please accept my apologies but I bet you're no fucking fun at parties.

They are all banter and I personally like it but society sadly no longer does humour, so as said we should have left it as it was, the PR battle was won comfortably by us when Madrid refused to attend the ceremony.

The recent stay humble quotes by Haaland, brilliant but it came back to hit us in the nuts, but again that's old school football banter and the game is a lot better with it.

There's no comeback to Welcome to Manchester.

Well, as one of the people who had a small hand in making the banner happen, I'm pretty happy with how it went.

Rodri loved it (and took a picture of it at the game). Liam Gallagher tweeted us (1894) because he liked it. I'd say on social media platforms like X/Instagram, the response was very positive. The response on here is more 50/50 (I think that potentially reflects the age demographics on here—I think it's fair to say some of the older blues don't appreciate the 'banter' displays as much as the younger fans). We completely accept that not everyone is going to love every display. We get some wrong and some right.

We've always been a fanbase that will call out bullshit. The way Madrid behaved when Rodri won the Ballon D'or was embarrassing and deserves to be mocked.

As a side benefit, the media response has been huge. Whether it's positive or negative, we have news outlets all over the world reporting on it. This builds influence (for example, journalists reaching out to us for stories, we then have a relationship and can work with them in the future).

As always, we are more than happy to receive feedback. We're trying to do our best and we'll keep going. If you'd like to become an 1894 member, join us

You'll receive our mailers to see what we're up to. You can vote on and fill in surveys that help us decide what routes to take from displays to fan activism campaigns.

All the best blues!
FWIW, I thought it was fucking ace, and if it was sanctioned by the Club that will do for me. Maybe, we should set up a committee for pre-approval of all future initiatives, and call it "Banner Matters".

Personally, I LOVE the phone light ups. Strategically placed around the stadium, we could spell whatever the fuck we want. If someone in the East stand takes offence, a quick shuffle around and its sorted. Messaging along the lines of:

Haircuts over here.
TicToc is your friend.
Go City.
Lets get viral Blues.

Yeah man, this has got legs.

I have never heard such shit as it motivated them. To do what? In their huddle were they saying “right come on lads - that banner is a disgrace. We will show them. Let’s get ourselves into a losing position with five minutes to go and then make them gift us two goals”. They won because we gave them two goals. If we hadn’t done that we win the game and then the banner is no motivation. Because of the result they could say that at the end

It made us look tinpot just like that "muppets" banner from the other year. Imagine being arrogant enough to take the piss out of one of the best players in the world who is inevitably going to win the Balon D'Or this year anyway.
Rodri was chosen first over him though :) and maybe we won’t turn up for his award ;)

I think the banner was misjudged if im honest.
A banner of rodders with the trophy, fine. But it didnt need the text.

I think 99% of what the 1894 do is brilliant. The 192 bus thing was a bit naff but i enjoyed it all the same.

But this banner, nope not for me
It needed the text to make the point it was a dig at them boycotting the ceremony though, not just outright gloating about Rodri winning the trophy

Rodri rightly won the Ballon D'or, that in itself is enough.
The difference being, we didn't do anything to provoke their banner. Madrid had more than disrespected Rodri and the media, almost to a man, never called them out on it.
Just my opinion.

It didn't make them look small time. It was a small piss take in the corner of the Stretford End that wound us up. Job done. And did it motivate us more? Like fuck did it. We were fucking awful at the swamp for donkeys and didn't manage to tear the banner down for 35 years!

We can't throw trophies or anything else in Real's face. They're a fucking pathetic club proven by how empty their away end is despite their success. They're everything that's wrong with football encapsulated into one pathetic glory hunting cheating whining club. Vinicius' CV is fantastic, but he wants the Ballon D'or more than anything. They skipped the ceremony which was pathetic and hugely disrespectful to Rodri who has been heroic in a City shirt for a long period scoring one of the most important goals in our history. Give them it with both barrels.

I thought that it was a bad idea as soon as I heard about it - it was very petty and probably gave Madrid their team talk and extra motivation?
