Away fans / tourists in home sections

You’re right, they don’t care. The expanded North stand will cement that don’t care attitude with a huge increase in match day revenues. But they will start caring when they see 1000’s of empty seats all over the ground in the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup, and especially in the Europa League, and UEFA Conference League, if City start falling away on the pitch, when 8000 additional seats need filling in the expanded North stand.
They are getting it badly wrong.

I know for a fact a good few of the top brass arent football fans. Amazing at their jobs, but certainly not city fans, barely football fans

United fan in the City end (family stand) with a Madrid fan right in front of him Tuesday night was the worst it’s ever been for a big game for stuff like thisIMG_6065.jpeg

A lad at work asked me who we've got this weekend 1st time ever i had no idea
The disconnect between the club and fans is getting worse. I've said it before, but we don't have the numbers for this business model to be sustainable long term (the non-season ticket prices are insane), and now the time has come that we're not quite as exciting to watch as we were even last season, the demand from day-trippers who might be prepared to cough up £200 to watch us v Liverpool etc., but not so much Southampton, will drop off. Those at City making these short term decisions are cunts......unfortunately for us, they won't/don't give a fuck.

I’m not sure if the club are that bothered, when they see that PSG annual match day revenue is double ours even though Parc des Prince capacity is only 48k. So assume better a ticket sold to anyone than an empty one in their eyes.

Even for Soriano, Danny, the other directors, the managers under them, and the bean counters at City, this thread has to be a sobering read and a wake up call, not they've all been sleep walking into this issue. Surely they can see where this is ultimately heading now and into the future?
I think that is a very optimistic view.

There have been plenty of threads on here about ticket prices, away ticket sale distribution but I’ve not seen any changes in their path of travel.

They only thing what seems to cause reflection is bad (media) publicity (such as attention to increased prices of disabled parking) and impact on profits.

When they look at the Madrid match, all the tickets sold for vastly inflated prices, expenditure in the club shop/merchandise from non-regulars, revenues by not allowing the transfer of tickets to family, I think they will view it as a roaring success.

Alex

Can you ask this question.

Why does the club allow the Hawkers to sell copyrighted and fake City merchandise on the edge of the Etihad campus, and around the perimeter of the stadium, especially half and half scarfs?

There's a large group of male hawkers at the top of the Metrolink steps, just on the other side of the Etihad Campus perimeter shouting constantly... "Get your half and half scarfs.....

People are trying to get up the steps, and the Hawkers are stopping people, selling scarfs, and getting in the way of people at the top of the steps.

They need to be moved on by City or by TfGM. City must know they are there.

They weren’t there on Tuesday. And I doubt it was through choice, so they might have already been on to them.

If they have moved them it certainly won’t be because they don’t want half n halfers in the ground though. It’ll be so they can sell more of them in the souvenir shop.

If I’ve got time as I’m working, and I might be late, I’ll go on Hawkers watch tomorrow.

True.

We’ve been discussing those things for years, but season ticket, match day tickets, and everything that can go up in price has been put up in price. The club clearly isn’t listening, isn’t bothered, and doesn’t care. What matters is the increase in match day revenue.

Sadly true. It’s not unique to us, just a reflection on football and life in general really.

Just stings more due to the emotional attachment you have to your own club.

Like being let down by a family member or friend, you expect it from others but not your own.

That would be suppression of trade surely? If they have legitimate trading licences they should be allowed to make a living.

I’ll be absolutely honest and say I really don’t understand the fixation with half and half scarves. To some people they are a reminder of their visit, to some they become part of their collection of souvenirs.

Don’t worry I know you will castigate me for such calumny but I scratch my head. I’m there to watch my team play football not to notice what folk are wearing.
MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. :-)

I now retire to consider how to cope with the aftermath!
I’ll buy you a half’n’half City and Utd shirt for your next birthday, as a souvenir for all the derbies you been to down the years!

I think that's where alot of us are struggling. The emotional tie is being broken, not by us but the club we are emotional attached to. It leaves a hole in your life.

That’s kind of you but, if I had/wanted half and half a) it would be a scarf not a shirt b) it would be of a European team
A souvenir of a trip abroad not a trip in this country.
I do appreciate the the thought though. It is very kind of you. :-) :-)

Don’t forget I’m old school, City one week, Trafford next until I could afford to travel to away games. :-)

In 10 years time the discussion will be..

"Why are there so many locals taking our seats?"

Written by the 2008 group who replaced the now defunkt 1894 group who collapsed in late 2030 due to a scandal over a real madrid banner which upset the tourists.
More like we want the local loons back...... the atmosphere is better on the blue moon

In 10 years clubs will be happy if fans just watched on a virtual screen thing.
If they're making more and more money they wouldn't give a toss about fans

I did laugh at the blue moon podcast this week when one of the blokes on there said he’s not going to any European games in the future as there’s always 200 Scottish school kids sat near him
