Red Cafe in meltdown

If being a big club means winning things recently then Leeds were bigger than City in the 70's. By the same token Untied and Spurs are not big clubs anymore and City are bigger than anyone. Troy Deaney is a prat.
Ok for i would say a 2/3 year period over 50 years ago leeds were a more successful team. They won a league and fa cup in that period and finished 2nd a few times.

Not sure what gates leeds were getting then but its a moot point anyway. Leeds are a one team town and leeds has a huge population with many towns very near in addition with a fair populations that dont have football teams.

Growing up in the '70's, in South Wales, Leeds were a huge club. They always served to be in Cup Finals and contenders fur the League.
They had a big support from all over Yaaaarkshire, also in South Wales.
Unfortunately for them, their manager, Don Revie (who played for City in the late 1950's), was a dour, miserable bugger. His team had some exciting attacking players (Eddie Gray, Peter Lorimer), but they would waste time and moan to the ref, continually.
This negative attitude from Leeds, meant they never were admired or respected by other fans or the media.
Troy Deeney is not the brightest and seems happy to jump on any bandwagon (especially Arne Slot & LFC) - have a look at his "BBC Team of the Week"...

Al lot of these pundits are thick as shit.
Saw an interview with troy deany recently where he said leeds were a bigger club than city !!

Now i dont normally care about the ‘big club’ tag. How is it measured?
But i cant think of any level that leeds would be or have ever been bigger than city.
Not one

Ahhh the opinion of Mr Troy Deeney. Thick as shit, ex convict Brummie who happened to be a bit good at kicking a bag of air about.

I wouldn't give him the time of day pal, can probably just about get dressed in the morning.

There were lots of dirty Leeds fans in Cornwall, when I was growing up, too.

I also had mate, who supported Chelsea, West Ham, Villa, Spurs, cheating Arsenal and Argyle, as well as the rags and Littlewoods.

If everything is based on who's biggest or who's won the most then we might as well shut down practically every club in the country.
God help any Crewe Alex fans.

Peter Lorimer, yes... (I think I got his card in every shredded wheat box)... but then there was Billy "break yer legs" Bremner

It's 17 seasons since they won the League Cup not 28, they qualified for the CL a few times and reached the CL final before we did.
Maths has never been a strong point (of mine)! and I had erased the CL final appearance from my memory so was relying on the Wiki Honours board.

I think though that we agree on the point that they are treated as if a top club despite being also rans for much of the last 60 years. And therefore (whether we like it or not) it will be the same for United for at least as long.

I never tire of ripping into any red shite.
me neither - its got like shooting fish in a barrel now

I don’t know where we go from here.

The manager is too rigid with his system and to say there is no plan B is wild. The best managers will adapt their tactics for certain games rather than playing their system regardless. It seems like he’s already starting to lose the dressing room due to the worst run of games from any manager in living memory, including Ralf.

People say it’s the players but they’re not the same players that did it with Mourinho and Ole so to keep blaming them seems daft. I do think our squad is the worst I’ve ever seen, mind but it foes feel like they’re decent before they get here and then decent after they leave.

The ownership has (rightly) been criticised previously and I was so excited to have a breath of fresh air with Radcliffe but he’s come in like a bull in a china shop and the morale at the whole club seems lower than ever. He wanted to put the Manchester back in United but wants us to pay London prices for tickets and cuts things like the £40k we gave to charity to look after previous players which is a drop in the ocean. Some things shouldn’t be touched.

So we currently have a stubborn manager, awful players that seem to do better the second they’re not playing for us and a ruthless owner with pipe line dreams of a new stadium and a magic money tree.

The whole club is a rotten soap opera that is the media’s wet dream. We’re just missing a suspicious murder and we’re a novella.

It’s all shit.

Anyway, see you next Wednesday to do it all again…"

Not happy is he??

You really can just end the point there as therein lies the problem, the vast majority of pundits are ex footballers and with the best will in the world footballers are not known for being educated scholars capable of making a point succinctly and eruditely backed up with knowledge and well researched facts, they are more well known for saying errm and you see what i mean alot and grunting and there opinions and everything they say should be caveated with the fact that for the most part they are morons, rich morons who can kick a ball absolutely, but morons nonetheless
It’s why I feel lucky in the U.S. to have Mustoe, Earle and Howard doing most of our pre/post match commentary on NBC/USA/Peacock. Largely thoughtful, reasonable and unbiased. Good mix of praise and criticism.

He seems resigned to their fate vs unhappy and he’s not wrong about much of it.

The difference is this was all perfectly predictable and many of us have been predicting it all the way down the line. The rot doesn’t stop until no one on the planet utters the phrases “But this is Manchester United we’re talking about” or “the United way”. That will be the bottom. From there they can build.
