To join up with City this week according to Romano.

I think he might be involved in the Plymouth match. That's 1st March and still some time away and would allow him to settle in.

Just seeing some on here say he's 'physically weak' is an oxymoron when it comes to the Argentinian leagues! This is where Aguero and Alvarez came from! The ability to ride through players that would chop through you and use you as firewood for fun!

That kid doesn't seem to fold compared to the nannies we have on the pitch in the Prem!!

Well I think they are mostly referencing his strength and possibly stamina.. i agree that he is tough but also really small and lightweight. Then again, his technique and agility might be enough.

After hearing so much about his potential I'd be incredibly disappointed if he was subsequently shipped out on loan.

Far better for him to study Savinho's gradual development and progress from young speedy lightweight (with no end product) to somebody who works hard when the opposition have the ball and still has enough energy to produce goalscoring opportunities

Savinho has obviously worked on his physicality and there's no better place for learning than the rough and tumble of the Premier League
Talking of physicality, speaking a while back to an academy player at City and asking him about what it was like, was it like what he expected etc, and he said he was surprised at the amount of upper body work, boxing type training etc that the club put on.

Messi was lightweight and 'frail' when he made his debut for Barcelona's first team aged 17. Echeverri is 19.

Generally speak, physicality and mental strength is an issue for young footballers at this age. I am hoping that he is going to train with City's first team and that will give Pep a very good guide as to whether he can play this season.

I'm wondering if the club think at this moment in time he's not quite ready for the demands of premiership football will he be used in the U19 European games. At least he will be playing in games. On the other hand it might be unfair on any of the players who have got City this far if one of them has to drop out to accommodate him.

Its more unfair on the team to be accommodating a player who is not as good as him.

That sounds like a certain David Silva, I’ll take that.

Not really, Messi was always bulky and strong like Tevez, Aguero and Alvarez...Echeverri without being as lightweight as Aimar or Saviola, it's sthg in between. Nevertheless we should never compare the likes of Messi, even phisically, with the mentioned, he belongs to a higher echelon even regarding those (like Maradona).

Messi's problems in his begginings and during his Barca B period at 16, were the constant hacking due to his style (plus quite a number of really awuful fouls and their consequences) and his constant muscle injuries due to his time and again accelerations, slalom after slalom during every game.
They had to make him take notice to graduate his tendencies at least a bit, changing his diet and be more focus in some individual training that would not put his muscles under constant strain given his power in order to have him fresh for actual matches.

I didn't see Diego or Messi at that age but I have watched some of his live games and also highlights and I think he's been amazing. But at the same time there is a gap between u20s in South America and the Premier League.

Just a reminder to everyone that Argentina play Brazil tonight but its 1 am UK time. I don't think I will stay up to watch it this time but I will look for the highlights in the morning.

Well people needs to understand that these type of fellas are extremely rare on every sense (I remember some silly Micah Richards statement calling Messi sthg like Silva on steroids, nope man, he is way beyond that).
Echeverri didn't showed anything close to that level of technique, athletism and physical traits in general, yet it's not a pun at all, and he certainly showed way more finesse and technique than Julian at the same age, to make a more suitable comparison, while having a quite less bulky build.

This would not prevent for him to become a Top Draw footballer, or luckly even beyond that. Yet I'm not from the ones that believe you turn into a Maradona, or Messi, you are just born that way and their will and luck must be align to become THAT very very very unique sort of player.

He is on the plane, will be great to see him start the next game in the FA cup.

It will be a good test/start for him, and I am 85% confident he can pass it.
