Other half having a hissy fit now - he'd paid 99p for a weeks amazon prime trial so we could watch tonight, but now he's logged in it says you also need a discovery plus payment? Is he right? I know it's on TNT which we don't have, but he kept going on about it being on amazon. Anyone know?!
Yes you need to subscribe to discovery at £30.99 a month

Got a sneaking feeling we will pul it off tonight which worries me because I was sure the Geordies were going to batter us saturday.Hopefully it will be the right decision to play Kushanovtonight because his strengths might hopefully take away a little from the biggest threat Madrid pose. Not certain who I would play right back tonight.Stones and Nico double pivot-if Dias and Ake fit?-Give good protection to the back 4 and hopefully help to dominate possession.De Bruyne and Doku to come on after 60 minutes .

come on city!
Hope you’re right as I feel the same

Any team news anyone has heard of?
Seaman

Subs: Stuhr-Ellegaard, Wiekens, Sibierski, Macken, Berkovic.

I hope Bozzy kicks Bellingham into the Atleti stadium

Well, it's a strange thing. I wonder if anyone else is feeling like this…?
Of course, I want us to win this tonight. We play, I want us to win. Always. Full Members Cup, Auto Windscreens Shield — this. Whatever. On principle, I want us to win, and I could not imagine it any other way. We might do it, too. Stranger things have happened.
But I realise as the day wears on that I don't fundamentally care about this trophy very much. And especially since we won it in Istanbul. Having become weary of the jibes of “You'll never sing that” etc. both from press and snide opposition supporters, yes, I did want us to do it that year, very much. And also, for the lads, who want it very much, and for Pep. I'll always want it for them. And indeed for any other blue for whom it really is the ultimate.
But for myself? Not all that much, frankly. And since we've done it, I care even less. It's sort of “OK, been there, done that, got the t-shirt, now let's move on to proper football”. Which, for me, will always be the domestic game. Hands down.
I think it's partly the sense that this competition really is set up for one club to win it, with occasional incursions from Bayern, Liverpool, the two Milans, Juventus, maybe Barcelona from time to time. But essentially, that one club, for them to wallow in their showbiz razzamatazz, their “Merengues” and all the rest of it. And their puerile rolling-on-the-floor hissy fits when they don't win their Ballons d'Or. I see that even in Spain they're getting tired of them.
If we go out, it'll annoy me. For about twenty-four hours. Maybe not even that. It's a bit disloyal, I suppose.
Oh well, up the blues, eh?

(Didn't feel it was worth starting a thread for these musings, sorry).

This would give me optimism. I think Pep will go with De Bruyne and maybe Kovacic too. He really relies on experience and trust.
My biggest concern is I think he's going to start Lewis right back.

I know Pep can be stubborn, but the upturn in performance on Saturday with younger players who have legs, surely he can't possibly overlook that?

The odds are always stacked against the English clubs due to how hard our domestic league is. Real value the champions league above all else while for us winning the premier league will always be the pinnacle, certainly for the majority of our supporters.
I too am lukewarm to this competition. I can see why some covet it too, each to their own. I'd love us to win it every year but then I want us to win every competition we're in.

Not forgetting the beneficial refereeing given them over the decades by uefa. The irony of them claiming La liga refs are biased against them

What will be will be tonight. Not the end of the world if we go out but I'd like us to go down fighting

This season, with all the injuries I would have been happy to fuck it off.

An early exit could be a blessing in disguise.

However, if we knock them out I won't accept any other position than going onto to win the fucker. Even if we get blamed for the scousers being cunts in Munich as expected on final day.
