That’s why Gvardiol hardly gets any stick. Not been great defensively but has scored some big goals for us
Gvardiol has gotten plenty of stick from me though, he was commiting too many errors in November and December, it was too much even with his offensive contributions, he's been better recently though.

No it's because he contributes fuck all while commiting fatal errors regularly, there is no point of him.
This.

What pisses me off just as much, is how we play to accommodate him. We know he can’t defend. We know he can’t be an overlapping full back. So we are stuck with this nonsense of him going inside to wank off our CDM. I lost count in that 1st half, of how many times Nico got the ball, turned to the right to look to Rico as an out ball and shock horror, he isn’t there.

Rico is an absolute disaster of a footballer. Utterly pointless and an accident waiting to happen every time he steps foot on the pitch.

And the worst part is he's constantly flailing his arms and pointing like he's a team general or something.

I have no idea what game people are watching.

Outside the mistake leading to a corner(no one was showing for the ball), although he still should have just smashed it out, he played great.
The matter that should be debated is whether it’s prudent to keep picking a player on the basis that he’ll “do alright” 95% of the time or if it’s the 5% that the focus should be on. You pick Rico Lewis, you know that at some point he’ll get isolated deep in our half, turn over the ball under pressure and it’ll then end up in our net. You have him in the team, it’s like starting on minus 1. Same goes for Gundogan for different reasons.
It isn’t a hate fest or anything even remotely similar, just an acknowledgment of something that happens nearly every time he plays. Not as bad a footballer as some may make out, but his lack of physicality makes him a consistent liability. I sigh every time I see his name on the team sheet

That’s on Pep that though. Rico has somehow been given license to be involved in absolutely everything we do. Every time we move forward, Rico gets the ball. You’d think he was prime David Silva the amount of time we have him on the ball.

You can say the same thing for the 100M pound defender opposite him, or any defender this season.

He wasn’t the worst player today but the fact we are judging his performance by not being the worst says it all.
He’s a bang average defender
And offers zilch in attack, a pointless player

While I still want us to buy a RB to upgrade on this position.

He wasn't a problem for me today tbh.

The whole backline, barring Khusanov, were underwhelming.

It was a collective effort on both those goals from most of the team.

First goal. Which is always the most important.
