i've honestly lost confidence for this summer. i don't know how you guys can see how pathetic this team can perform at home to teams really not that good like madrid and liverpool - teams that the city of just 2 years ago would have absolutely destroyed, how feckless and bereft of ideas we look, and think we're 1 or 2 players away from greatness. I mean we've spent 200m just last month and we look as bad, if not worse than before! We keep adding mediocrity to the team that we later have to ship, we buy players for 1 position only to realize they can't play it. we buy a centerback to play at leftback, we buy a striker who cannot play striker. there is just no planning in terms of squad building so idk where the confidence that we'll get this summer right coming from

We are in a similar situation to what Sporting was in when Viana went there. Old players who are past their best, on high wages the teams old and slow. We are in a similar situation. Viana came in at Sporting and brought in fresh young quality players changed the team completely working with Amorim.

Khusanov looks a quality player , Reis in one cameo appearance looks solid. Reading about Viana his talent ID is exceptional. Hardly bought a flop at Sporting.

This is the problem with a lot in here,a refusal to acknoweldge other teams can be very good too. Liverpool on course for 90+ points 1 loss, Madrid with the best forward line in Europe are excellent teams ,both teams even at our best we haven't destroyed.
Add to that a refusal to acknowedge the people rebuilding for the summer are the same people that built the best team in Europe over the last 8 years, yet you think there is no planning. We know the issues, we will fix the issues we will challenge for the P/L next season .No doubts myself, youv'e lost confidence already for next season, you're a fool.

For Delap to come we would also have to show a major change in mentality. The idea that Haaland can play so often and so much needs to be addressed. If not, we’re inevitably going to have a repeat of what happened with Rodri and then be without him for a prolonged period. We need both more players and better players, and it wouldn’t hurt Haaland to have more competition.

I think thats why this would be done quickly if Delap is happy to do it.

And we will get a LB to play RB. This is on Pep.

Suzuki
Frimpong
Cambiaso
Wharton
Baena
Delap

Could see something like this in the summer.
Frimpong and cambiasso would be ideal
We would have options in defence
Cambiasso. Can cover both sides and Frimpong can provide a more attacking option
Personally don’t think delap is good enough
I think zubimendi and wirtz would be ideal
That way you would have nico, rodri and Zubi covering two deeper positions in different ways

Not like you to be negative eh?

Suzuki is too young, probably would be loaned then
Frimpong - with Khusanov we could play more to his strenghts with less importance to defending
Cambiaso makes the most sense
i like Baena, could give us extra creativity, could play as a CF/SS
Suzuki „ is too young“ . That’s the problem. Who else is out there? And how old are they? If someone is good they are good enough. Suzuki is currently the best goalkeeper of his league which is the Serie A. Who is the goalkeeper that’s not too young and good enough ? Chevalier? PSG bound. Maignan? Doubt he will leave Milan + hasn’t been the at his best this season. Di Gregorio? Won’t leave Italy or Juventus anyways. Costa? Overrated but he is Portuguese so alone for that Viana will look at him. There are not many options. Suzuki is the best one of them if the Lille one really moves to PSG.

I don’t know how many here have seen Cambiasso but he is a left back and not a right back. He CAN play there. He is nothing special beside his versality. One of the reasons why we start to be bad. Buying players to turn them into different ones. There are far better options out there.

Frimpong would get exposed in the PL. also I don’t know if his touch is good enough for Pep who loves control above everything.

Delap has 10 goals in 25 matches, more I think than the top scorers at either Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur, so he won't be without suitors. As I say, attracting him back will only work if he's confident that he'll get game time, which is one of the reasons I'm interested in seeing how Guardiola uses the squad in the remaining games this season.

Pep seems to be rotating alot doesnt he?

Saw yesterday against Liverpool that we desperately need quality players in the midfield who can create chances. Rodri and Gonzalez can pull the strings in the deep, and the wingers can stretch the opponents, but we lack creative midfielders. Even if we sign Wirtz, he cannot play 4,000 minutes, so we'll need someone else.

Rotation can sometimes be forced, though, for example through injury.

Against Liverpool, de Bruyne could quite reasonably have been withdrawn at the break and nobody in the ground would have quibbled, save perhaps for the player himself. However, Guardiola allowed him to stay on until the 65th minute, a neutral time and long enough to make the player feel he's run his race and done no wrong.

Even in his interview with Warnock, Guardiola reiterated how he doesn't want to 'lose' players, and how he still thinks that happens when they're either not picked to play or not named on the bench. Unless that mentality changes, however, I'm just not sure how we can avoid further burn out, injuries, and poor form.

As I say, I'm intrigued to see how he manages the squad in the remaining fixtures, and if a few noses are put out of joint, I really don't care. Using all 5 substitutes consistently would be a good start, with the older players coming off the bench to close games.

Like we have before while winning the lot. Yes it's on Pep,as the next few years will be and I for one are thankfull for it. Personnally I've had a great 10 years I can't wait and am excited to see the next incarnation of our development. If anyone isn't, tough shit.

I'd agree but are you assuming that's him done forever then? No expectation of him returning back to form next season?
That's up to him, we have no idea what is going on with him but he had a hell of a challenge to get back to last year's level.

That’s where Echeverri comes in. We can’t have 100 offensive players. We are stacked there even without KDB and Grealish honestly. The two replacements will most likely be Bobb and Echeverri + the summer transfer hopefully Wirtz and maybe a backup striker whoever that is. Also they don’t and can’t play every where. Next season will be even harder due to the WC coming in. We just need a bigger squad and pep needs to rotate more and use all 5 subs on the regular. He is the only coach in this whole league who barely uses 3 and often when the game is already over. Never seen someone being so reluctant to sub players in. That shows how much he thinks that he can’t ever be wrong. Crying out for more subs and that there are too many games but will continue to play the same players over and over again. Bernardo is burned out and Akanji had to play 13 games in a row unfit.
Now Pep has to use a younger player in Khusanov and that one is already our best player on the defense.

Echeverri, Bobb, and Wirtz are wonderfully talented, but they're all young and have not experienced the physicality of playing in the midfield in England.

Let's hope we see such changes, but Guardiola using all 5 substitutes in the remaining games would be a good sign.

We might be "stacked" in quantity offensively but certainly not in quality. No one except Haaland is delivering enough attacking returns in form of goals and assists.
