Only Pep has the luxury of buying 50 million players (Nunes and Philips ) and not playing them at all, this guy never got the chance with us centrally whereas liability Rico Lewis keeps getting games

For me, it tells us just how stubborn Pep can be. We’ve been crying out for pace and energy centrally, and really could he or O’Rielly have done any worse than what we’ve seen?
I agree we've been crying out for pace, energy and physicality in midfield which are his best attributes. Pep won't play him there though because he doesn't trust his first touch, it's not good enough in those tight spaces with back to goal and that appears to be peps number 1 priority in midfield

Only pep? You sure about that? Are you sure you cannot name a similarly priced player elsewhere that isnt playing? How about record signing darwin nunez at the dippers? Arsenal sent vieira out on loan, hes got calafiori on the bench every week, merino couldnt get a sniff before he stuck him upfront. Chelsea have multiple players in that price range that they've shipped out on loans chillwell, disasi, veiga all loaned out last month, that over 100m alone. Take your pick at united, Antony, casemiro, maguire, mount, van de beek, the list can go on and on for them.
So when you say only pep, I presume you actually mean every other premier league manager at a club that can afford to spend those figures.

I don't know what this guys best attributes are but it certainly isn't "physicality" - he's a big girls blouse - hardly puts a tackle in and runs around like a prancing pony

Who was our last fast central midfielder?

It’s not pace we need, it’s creativity.

Strongly disagree. I think energy and pace is our biggest weakness.

With the likes of prime Merlin, Fernandinho and KdB (and Rodri) you could get away without pace in midfield. We no longer have anyone available who is currently near that standard.

Even with those icons, though, we needed pace and movement up front to exploit their creativity. I’m hoping that’s what we are moving back towards.

You don't think prime fernandinho and kdb had pace?

I know people give him shit, me included but at right back he seems a decent squad option to me and has done since he’s played there. OBVIOUSLY we need a more qualified first choice option but every team needs players that can step in and do a job. Even if it’s just for less intense games.

Yes he’s not perfect by any means but taking homegrown bias out of it I can’t help feeling he’s better than Rico. Even if that’s just till the end of this season. Still think he’s gone at season end

Decent today, all though suspect defensively. Probably not good enough but has some upside and is a fighter which is appreciated at the moment
