Away fans / tourists in home sections

As others have said Spurs stadium tonight was even worse than the Etihad for tourists. Me and Mrs Shanghai sat right on the barrier to the “home” fans, I’m not really into the goading ritual but needn’t have worried, none of them even looked at us, all phones out recording whole game. Thought our end was OK, not exactly raucous but less touristy than some London aways.
And we won

In United’s atmosphere section above the tunnel at Old Trafford, phones are banned during the game.

People have notes stuck to their seat when they attend the next game saying something like, ‘we noticed you had your phone out during the last game, we want to remind you that this section of the stadium is dedicated to creating an atmosphere and not for getting phones out and taking your attention away from creating an atmosphere, thank you’.

I think if they’re caught a few times, they are asked to relocate their season ticket from there the next season.

City would never allow the fans to do that.

The rumoured new 3000 safe standing seats at the back of NSL2 will be interesting. The closet part of the stand to the hotel. It's going to be full of people staying in the hotel wanting to stand at the match.

I only take photo’s of my c*ck for Grinder.
They love…..shit. Wrong thread :-(

The odd football photo isnt too bad but filming De Bruyne taking a corner each time - why? Absolutely nobody is that excited about that video and wouldn’t be arsed watching it

I remember an American comedian (think it was Kevin Hart) at the Arena, mobiles were banned and you had to lock your phone away before getting in your seat

This is becoming a pretty common thing at comedy shows.

The locking away of phones, I mean.

Don’t worry, the now old ticket compliance manager has been doing that. Has he or she fuck.

I KID YOU NOT!

This is from the City Ticket Compliance Manager vacancy advert.

Manchester City is recruiting a Ticket Compliance Manager to investigate ticket re-sale misuse and all aspects of ticket touting. This role forms part of the Club’s ongoing efforts to make sure tickets go to qualified fans.

It gets better.

The successful applicant will actively investigate ticket re-sale misuse for home and away matches and fraud along with all aspects of ticket touting to ensure that the Club’s terms and conditions are adhered to and that crimes under the Serious and Organised Crime Act 2005 and the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.are minimised.

Job perks…..4 tickets to any game

What us British match going fans struggle to get our heads round is so-called tourists are premier league fans and don't stick to just one club. It's bat shit crazy to us tribal match goers.
I'm not even British and this is also insane to me.

To me it's just as nuts as being a fan of two rival colleges over here.

Pick a side. I get just enjoying the spectacle, but I don't get people saying stuff like "I like both Chelsea and United." What

Self important knobheads

We need one of these in the South Stand.
Would put any tourist off ever coming again

I low-key worry about opening my mouth when I'm attending matches in England.

"American accent? Are you like that 'FIGHT AND WIN' guy?"

The local news in Seattle did a TV interview with him and he kept slipping in and out of an incredibly phony English accent. American soccer fans mostly hated him for being a tryhard.

This is just fake nonsense in this day and age. Looking back at a time that never existed.

Banning phones lol. Are fans being watched the whole game? Do they have to sing songs about Scousers and dust bins etc or they can’t come back next week?

Fucks sake, the state were in for me to think we need to do that.

At least an "atmosphere" i.e season ticket, legacy section.

Fuck it, give me a megaphone and a high chair we'll "fight and win".

Sad thing is there are plenty of normal American soccer fans but the most visible ones - whether they're MLS fans or whether they support a Prem side - give off this energy. Then of course the clips do the rounds on banter accounts. I'm reminded of that time the "hooligan firms" for NY Red Bulls and NYCFC had a pre-arranged "fight" where they mostly just threw drink cups at each other

I wish we'd stop trying to copy the English and just do our own thing but that's a discussion for a different thread and possibly a different site

Just got back from Spurs. That away end is getting ridiculous. No idea why these people who have no affiliation to our club are there. The seats nearest to the home fans were 99% first timers.

It was quite mad hearing all of the different accents last night in our end!

What I will say though, even though I doubt this is how many got their tickets, it did go down to members so to that extent it is to be expected.

If thousands of season ticket holders(who moan that they can't get a ticket for Old Trafford and Anfield away) can't be arsed traipsing down to London on a Wednesday night, then it's a good job we have people to pick up the slack for them.
