Away fans / tourists in home sections

I know mate. Can only think they thought an allocation of 7800 for Plymouth would be enough to satisfy demand from their fans and while tickets remained on sale in the away section, maybe the club thought none of theirs would buy in our end in the meantime. That's utterly naive. This is a huge game for Plymouth, especially coming off the back of knocking Liverpool out, and they were always capable of shifting well over 10,000 tickets IMO

City should have given them SSL2.

The remaining tickets would have sold out, with City fans on SSL2 being moved to other parts of the ground.

Well I was replying to somebody who was mentioning the away end being ridiculous.

Our fans have become accustomed to moaning at tourists and neutrals in our end. I can totally understand it at big away games where tickets are hard to come by. But last night, that wasn't the case. 35k season ticket holders had the chance to buy a ticket for it. Only a small percentage of that number bought so the tickets went to members with no criteria.

So last night isn't the time to criticise "tourists" as they had every right to buy a ticket once it reached their criteria.
It was a good turn-out for us last night. There may have been a few tourists but they were singing and supporting City. It was great at the end and the players stayed longer to celebrate. They appreciated it. Especially after being under the cosh for that period of the second half.

Agreed. That's my first time in the behind the goal section of the away end there, and I thought the atmosphere came across better there than It does in the side blocks.

Travelled on my own last night as I've been working in Belgium this week. Got the train from up Liverpool St and all the Spurs fans were welcoming too.

They've got lots of ssl2.
Reading the comments on their Facebook posts it seems the club syphoned off about 1800 for staff and corporates.
Sound familiar?

The atmosphere was great in that lower tier. Don’t know what the Upper was like. I think the stadium is fantastic when it gets going. It helped when the Spurs fans woke up in the second half.

They might not have bought 3 or 4 thousand tickets in our end but they've definitely bought some Tim and it's irrelevant when Plymouth sold out their allocation. A brief look at their forums shows that Plymouth had a convoluted sales process and as a result of that, some of their fans were spooked into thinking they wouldn't qualify for a ticket so instead bought tickets in our end. Note that there were no restrictions on the cut-off date for becoming a City member in order to buy tickets for this game for ages and it's only in the past couple of days that City are now saying you needed to be a member on or before 9th February (the day before the 5th round draw was made).
It could be argued City have played a blinder

Mugged someone off for a £35 membership then cancelled the ticket

Those buying know the risk. Tough titty

Plymouth brought thousands up to Maine Road for the FA Cup 5th round in 1988. They definitely filled the away part of the Kippax corner both top and bottom half and I think filled the Platt Lane too.
The 29,000 attendance (compared with 26,000 for a midweek replay v Blackpool in the previous round) plus the TV evidence (it's on YouTube) and the gaps in the Platt Lane would suggest that they brought around 4-5k

Still a good turnout but football was nowhere near as fashionable in that post Heysel period

Don’t forget the Swales factor mate. I remember them filling the Platt Lane and Kippax corner, great turnout at the time either way.

He did say the figure was an estimate

As for the bit about the stewards, I've heard the same too. And it stands to reason really because a fair few took some digs
Yeah I'm not disputing that you both heard things and posted in good faith

It's more the way we pick and choose with Twitter

The font of all truth and knowledge when it suits our argument but utter exaggerated bollocks when it doesn't

No way.

City have given them the correct allocation in SS3.

City fans in other areas of the ground should not be moved ....EVER !!

Away fans in home areas must have their tickets cancelled or be identified and evicted pre match or there will be trouble !!

They brought either six or four fans for the Full Members in 1987.

They have the majority of SS2 as well as that's what they are entitled to under the competition rules.
