That's really sad news
I worked with one of his sons back in the 80's and spent a lovely evening round at his house chatting with Steve and his wife whilst drinking home brewed beer. This was after John Bond had sacked him and Steve was back in the country during the Icelandic winter break

He and his wife were both into Astrology (think he wrote a book about it)
I thought it was a load of horseshit and said to Steve and his wife "OK then, what star sign am I?"
They both replied in unison "Aquarius" which i am
"How do you know that?" I asked
"Easy. Tallest star sign" was the answer
I'm 6ft 4

I remember Steve Fleet at City although I did not see him play. He made only six appearances for the first team over his five seasons. He was behind Bert Trautmann and Harry Dowd in the pecking order.

He had decent spells with Wrexham and Stockport County after leaving City in 1963.

I’m 6’4 too but Libra. Go figure.
RIP Steve.

Sad news. Remember him around Platt Lane when I was training there back in the 80s - also used to play footy with his son Ben in the 90s/00s who I also believe has now sadly passed away too.

The family were true Blues who loved the club. RIP Steve - sending condolences to his family and friends

I remember when I first started going to City in the late seventies, Steve Fleet was the youth coach. He reached our first two FA Youth Cup finals and players he brought through were instrumental in our first ever Central League title.

He lost his job when John Bond became manager, IIRC, because in those days a new manager would bring his own staff at every level. Came back, though, to run the Platt Lane complex.

Rest easy, Steve. A lifelong Blue who made a fantastic contribution to our club over many years.

EDIT - Found this really good page on Steve on the City 'til I die site, with a typically excellent interview by Gary James among other things: https://www.citytilidie.com/uncategorized/steve-fleet/

My stomach churned with your news of Ben
It was his older brother Wes, I worked with

I only saw him play a couple of times because was Bert Trautmann's understudy and then Harry Dowd nudged him further down the pecking order but from what I remember he was a decent keeper when called upon. Apparently he was a big mate of Eddie Colman pre Munich. RIP Steve.
