Course it is. Bringing Gundo back, Walker should have gone too. De Bruyne is clearly done, the fact he didnt play against Madrid and Newcastle says Peps thinks so too. He can’t do more than 60 mins, what’s another year going to be like. Can’t believe some fans want to keep making the same mistake. Kova, Gundo, KDB, Grealish, Stones and Ake should all go IMO.
Some of those will go, though KDB apart only those willing to. Of course KDB is done doesn’t mean games like yesterday and substitute appearances are beyond him I’m in 2 minds but not too fussed either way.

the possible extension shows us that some people don’t really wanna rebuild. Makes no sense to keep Bernardo, KDB and Gundo. Any other club would move 2/3 at least. Pep doesn’t wanna let them go. Will make it harder for the new coach in 2 years time.
Guess we won’t go for a 10 then. Wouldn’t surprise me if Grealish stays too at this point.
Don’t even mate, surely he can’t be here another year

We should 100% let Bernardo and Gundo go, but as long as Wirtz is not an option, I don`t see who we could replace KDB with, who would also make sense in the long term. With Foden, Echeverri, KDB, Marmoush and Bobb able to play as the no 10, I don`t think someone like Simons, Baena, Baturina, Sudakov would make sense, as they`re not a big upgrade on what we already have. I think Echeverri will be a star with a bit of time, and Foden will return to his best when Rodri`s back and we start winning consistently. Cambiaso inverting from RB will also add loads of creativity, like a more consistent Cancelo. In terms of CMs, the list of players that would improve us is much longer. Gundo and Bernardo is easier to replace in the market, for Kev I think some of the best options are already in the squad

Physically doesn't look fit or maybe his body is not capable of high intensity anymore?

Against Forest, Chelsea and Brentford he looked like a top player still but in recent weeks he looks completely shot, even his passing and shooting looks to have decreased by 50%.

I'd give him the 12-month contract. Foden isn't playing much better.
Truth is we may need to change our playing style, there's no midfielder playing in world football that's on prime kdb level, pedri is closest, wirtz not close but is next closest, the drop off after Wirtz is 'Xavi Simons' 'Foden' 'Musiala' 'Baena' 'Palmer' 'Vitinha' 'Fabian Ruiz' from that list I'd take Fabian Ruiz or Xavi Simons.

This rebuild is going to take a lot longer than some think, or I previously hoped.

Keeping KDB and Gundogan, that leaves us with the following unsaleable or difficult to sell assets from next season.

KDB, Gundo, Bernardo, Stones - 1yr left
Ake, Akanji, Grealish, Kovacic - 2yrs left
Nunes, Phillips - 3 yrs left

These players are either finished, almost finished, injury prone to the point of being useless or just plain not good enough and yet I can’t see a clear path way for any to leave permanently before their contracts expire.

It’s a huge mess we’re in and it’s going to severely limit what we can do in the transfer market. It’s no wonder we’re going after very young players on low wages, do we have any other choice?

So firstly this isnt correct. KDB and Gundo are out of contract this summer. Secondly, you need squad players and Akanji, Kovacic, Nunes, Grealish and Bernardo can all fit that role. So that leaves you with 3 question marks (Stones, Ake, KDB) not 10 as you state. Depending on how our recruiting goes, you may also want to try to move on some of the squad options if we can find takers. But as I see it, if we can bring in a CAM, RB, prob a goalie + Rodri comes back fit, we are in pretty decent shape for next season.

Haha Fuckinghell. Txiki done much worse than I thought.

There was no one like Yaya, no one like Kompany, no one like David Silva, no one like Aguero. Can go on and on.

The team has to adapt.

Kev was putting up stupid numbers in Bundesliga and dragging Wolfsburg to titles. Wirtz hasn't even reached Kev's level in Germany never mind coming in to replace him at City.

No you're wrong.

Vieira, Essien were like Yaya,
Ferdinand, Van Dijk were like Kompany,
Iniesta, Xavi were like David Silva,
Suarez and Benzema were like Kun Aguero.

There is no single attacking midfielder present in world football that is on the level of KDB 2016-2023

And I agree with you the team needs to adapt, that was my point, 8-9 years ago there were 10-15 midfielders in that world class/generational bracket, we can't go out and buy a player on Prime Kdb level so imo the team system should change, that's a job for Pep to sort out.

No I am not wrong because none of those players played for City. (Aside from Vieira using as a retirement package)

This forum in the last 10yrs is littered with posts of "We can never replace X" "When Y goes, we are fucked" and what happens. City went out and signed another diamond and in the end, we keep winning.

Doesn't matter if they've played for city. I'm saying that there are no generational midfielders on the market that can replace KDB and that wasn't the case 8-9 years ago.

I dont think we're 'fucked' if KDB goes, we just need to adapt our system to what the current game at the top level demands.

Neither Vieira nor Essien were anything like Yaya, aside from being African central midfielders. I doubt Vieira and Essien ever had a season where they hit 20 league goals between them, for one thing

Exactly the same? No, similar in terms of midfield dominance and both generational players yes all day!!

So 9yrs ago you would have replaced Kdb with Iniesta or Xavi is that what your saying?

Assuming time hasn't moved on and Iniesta and Xavi are in their mids 20s at Barca.

If thats the case why go and extend with 2 of those players ? It’s going to limit us again. I do get that Pep finally accepted realized that we need a bigger squad but it’s not like there are talents out there who can’t get that game time. For me extending KDB and Gundogan is a dumb idea. At least in this season they are not doing stuff that someone like O’Reilly or potentially Echeverri wouldn’t be able to do.

Being reported that Simon Mullock is saying that City are offering Kev a 12 month contract extension, at 150k per week but with a "healthy package" of bonuses. What's his current contract; 350k per week, isn't it?

Well if you read up on the recent reports, it seems Gundogan is staying due to triggering an extension and the club is pondering extending KDB by a year. That’s what I was referring to by ‘Keeping KDB and Gundogan’, following the previous page or so.

Imo we need more than 3 players to get back to the top. Guess we’ll see.

Love Kev but we really need to be moving on. We can only have 17 non-homegrown players. Those spots are too valuable to have players occupying them that can only contribute now and then.
