The supreme court has just issued a decision in the USAID case. By 5-4 they have ruled that the administration has no power to stop the payments voted through by congress.
While this is a major blow to Musk, it is limited:
1. To contracts already fulfilled.
2. Subject to the trial court setting a reasonable timetable for payments to be made.
There is still a way to go in this argument between the courts and the administration.

SCOTUS support lower court ruling on payment of part of USAID for already-completed contracts. No timeframe assigned to pay it according to the reports.
5-4 (Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh)

Thomas and Kavanaugh are outright certainties in voting with Trump. I am almost certain they are both compromised.

The time table is up to the trial court but must be reasonable.
I can see the administration arguing that they need for ever.
Alito has issued a coruscating dissent. Barrett voted with the four lefties or should I say normal judges who respect the rule of law.

Trumpistan.
This isn’t even a joke. 100 percent guaranteed he’ll look to rename something big after himself. Certainly at a minimum an airport (Kennedy or Reagan; maybe Dulles or LaGuardia) but you can’t discount the possibility he’d try to rename Washington DC after himself.

Question from U.S. Farmers:

If tariffs are good for America, and American business, why has Trump just announced a 1 month amnesty of Mexican & Canadian tariffs for U.S. Automakers?

Eleven states are named in some way after individuals, so expect a clamour from the cult to do so in relation to Trump.

If it had to be one, I’d pick Arkansas, as the way it’s pronounced has always got on my tits.

I'm not sure where to post this in the existing threads. But I've been thinking about how when we buy goods like phones, laptops etc we want a good quality product and to a degree from somewhere that follows roughly similar value to ours.

I've namely avoided Chinese brands for this reason. They seem a bit cheap and cheerful and maybe don't have that longevity compared to other countries brands etc.

This is a bit of a rushed post as it's just come to my head whilst making a cuppa but I'm wondering if my way of thinking now is out of date. Basically to sum it up what I'm saying is that if the US no longer holds 'European values' then why pay the premium for their goods?

Although international situation is very complex, supporting local bussiness is never a bad idea.
