Good shout about Cheltenham racecourse owners, I've never looked at it from that point of view.I think you've got it all wrong here Lightbowne Cowboy.
Unfortunately for you, trainers are not in the job to accommodate your preferences, their priority is for the horse and owners. They pay the bills, you don't.
You chose to take advantage of prices ante-post and those attractive prices come with increased risk.
There has been a lot of discussion on Lossiemouth running in the Mares race and not the Champion Hurdle.
If you owned the horse, would you choose the option of winning a Grade 1 as a strong favourite, or being up against the odds in another Grade 1 carrying greater prestige, where your expectations are more place than win? I suspect if that was your position, you'd choose the former.
If blame is going to be cast, then it's on Cheltenham, not the owners and trainers.
Their greed has made the festival a four day event (they even pushed for five at one point), which has diluted the quality of races and has opened up many more options for trainers with top class horses to reap rewards while avoiding each other. Now we are offered many more Grade 1 races led by a heavy odds on favourite. It's nice to see these quality horses, but not from a betting perspective.
They've pushed up prices, jammed more people in and this year they are finding attendances dropping. It's not just the ticket prices they should consider, travelling, parking, food and drink, possibly accommodation all add to the day or week.
The genuine racing people have been gradually staying away for years and if now the cokeheads and twats are as well, then Cheltenham have only themselves to blame. There comes a point where people question value for money.
Don't blame the trainers, blame Cheltenham.
What a crazy race! I was tempted to go big on Conny hill but decided against it(Thanks @kippaxstreet :) For that race to turn out the way it did was a billion to 1 with 2 fences to go! Heart goes out to anyone on State Man, that was heartbreaking! Just goes to show that anything can happen over the jumps. The only way you win on ante post Non Runner no bet. Some places open up that market ante post as they have horses in so many races. Don't forget some owners have a lot of runners going. How many horses has JP McManus got in some races same with Michael O Leary and the Gigginstown horses. It's so hard to pick.
Brighterdaysahead to beat Constitution Hill in the big race for the Champion Hurdle won the last race by 30 lengths in a hurdle race grade 1 is rarely seen.
You mean the British, one each for Scotland and Wales! That champion hurdle crazy race. Paul Townend should be having that just pop the hurdle he canters in.
Felt for Better days ahead she got hampered big time from State man's fall. On another day that horse wins the race.
Mullins will be sick bad jumping by State man and in the Arkle cost him those 2 races.
Also English are winning 4-3 after day 1 might see that graphic popping up until Thursday
Could have been backed at 50/1 earlier on today.25/1? That was a nice tickle, even if you only had a fiver on it.
Did you?Could have been backed at 50/1 earlier on today.
