Andy Burnham | Manchester Mayor

How the fuck and who the fuck, voted for burnham to be mayor of Manchester!
I have said this for years, he is a self promoting rag loving scouse prick and some how Mancunians vote for him and gets a landslide in the Mayoral elections. Not sure how he gets away with working for the rags whilst neglecting his public duties we pay him for.

people simply can't bring themselves not to vote with their political party allegiance. The mayoral Elections should be Independents only.

Easy then. I get the appeal for developers. But none of this starts until government backing turns into anywhere between a quarter and half a billion of government funding to relocate the terminal, does it? I hope that hasn't been, or isn't going to be, rubber stamped. Not my tax money, though :)
The Government should eventually make a profit if this project is done properly. Sheikh Mansour has trebled the value of his investments in Manchester. The North West needs to grab anything they can get from the London Government which has been shafting us for decades.

Like I’ve said previously
The money City have put into Mcr and the local community and our mayor has the temerity to send a letter to parliament about Everton’s points deduction
However not a peep out of the fella regarding City 115/apt

Andy Burnham, mayor of Greater Manchester: "If we get this right, the regeneration impact could be bigger and better than London 2012. Manchester United could, and indeed should, have the best football stadium in the world."To me, that means a stadium that is true to the traditions of the club, affordable to all, with nobody priced out, and a stadium that sets new standards in the game globally. "I believe this vision can be realised, and if so, the benefits for Greater Manchester, the north west and the country will be huge."

So have non doms, tax exiles and offshore bank accounts. They've shafted us far longer than decades.
Before we grab anything, which will be pittance by the way, ask yourself who will get rich out of this.

It won't be me, a resident of Trafford. I will just have to put up with the congestion and higher prices whilst Scruffy fucks off back to Monaco with a wad of cash, the Glazers buy another mansion, Neville on the back of his now full hotel buys more property to make him even richer and Burnham gets a knighthood.

Fuck this project and all who sail in her. I'm speaking as a Trafford resident. It won't bring me, a working class bloke anything.

Whats really pissing me off about this is the tax payers money. Just because they didn't look after Old Trafford should not mean anyone pays a penny to that privately run company, which survives in debt despite making huge profits. Why haven't the Glazers paid in to maintain the stadium? It's like a child spending all its pocket money on sweets, then when it's toy breaks because they didn't look after it, they demand you buy a new one and scoff when you say, well its your responsibility, why didn't you save some money and look after your toy?

Who's to say they also won't pay anything to maintain this new overly built circus tent stadium? If its getting that massive glass cover, why the fuck are we paying for that? They want a stadium. 4 stands a pitch, go for it.

Absolutely fuming over this. "ohhh but you got a free stadium" NO, not exactly free was it? It'd have been knocked down if we didn't take it. It suited everyone, lucky us, but we had plans to develop Maine Road, probably wouldn't have happened but at least we have plans. We also didn't fully benefit from the Etihad, maybe we do now I don't know but for a long time the council benefitted. The local area sure did too.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham reiterated that the club’s new home would receive zero public funding while Manchester United COO Collette Roche told Place North West she is sure the club can find the money to finance the 100,000-capacity project without state backing.

Speaking in front of a packed room on the UK Stage at MIPIM, Burnham was at pains to state his firm stance that the stadium itself would not get public backing.

“It is for Manchester United to fund their new home,” he said.

“There will be no public money, and that will not change in the duration of this project. And I do want that message to be heard loud and clear today.”

While the stadium building will be left to Manchester United to pay for, Burnham insinuated public money could be spent to help with securing the required land.

“That is where the public money is more likely to be spent,” he said

Burnham is leading the charge to assemble this part of the site by relocating the terminal to IPL North in Liverpool City Region – a £200m to £300m project, he said.

Ok you make a fair comment. But if this development happens (and it's a big if) it will create a lot of jobs and support a lot of sub contractors and small businesses. It will support a lot of people on the Trafford side of town. It won't benefit everyone of course but long-term I believe it will help the area. You could equally argue that Trafford already has some of the most affluent areas in Greater Manchester and the money would be better spent in North Manchester.

Nobody will argue that point. All investment and jobs are welcome in Gtr Manchester.

The issue is, the 6 Glazers brothers, who are billionaires, have not invested 1p in Trafford or Gtr Manchester since they bought United. In fact, they have taken £100's millions out of United and Gtr Manchester. Scruffy Jim is a billionaire Monaco tax exile, and has spent over a £1 billion buying a part share in United. Yet the 7 of them want the Government and the tax payer, you, me, and everyone else to pay £100's million to relocate the freight terminal, and to buy the freight terminal land so United can build a new 100,000 seater stadium on it, which will eventually make the 6 Glazer brothers and Scruffy Jim £100mill's.

Andy Burnham has brought it upon himself to lead this charade, carrying the begging bowl to the Labour Government, his political mates, for the 6 Glazer brothers and Scruffy Jim.

Amen to that. Everything you have posted there is true and utterly horrendous. Whatever "projections" are made about jobs and affordable housing will never ever materialise. It's scandalous

Weasle words. Public money won't be used to fund the stadium - just the redevelopment around it. Probably a huge slice of the £2bn
