The Mirror seem to be suggesting the rags want to use the Etihad while Salford is a building site.

My initial reaction is of course get to fuck, but I wouldn’t put it past the soulless accountants at City to be receptive to the idea.
They can fuck off. Not arsed about the money.

1) Ineos, private investors, sponsors, developers and taxpayers.
2) Owned by MUFC, apart from the freight terminal.
3) One of the largest re-generation projects in Europe.
4) This is a carbon copy of what they did in the Qatar world cup, they fabricated huge sections of the stadiums, and then fitted them together like a Meccano set. There will be a large factory near the ship canal, that will be able to manufacture the sections. They will need a large crane at wharfside for this.
So a prefab.

So, am I right in saying public money will be used to purchase the land (freight terminal) where the new circus tent will sit?

If Ratcliffe was funding it he'd have done so by now. Ineos hasn't funded anything regarding the rags and won't be funding it because the group is heavily in indebted and has relatively restricted banking covenants.

I don't believe there's a single instance in sporting history of a sponsor funding the build of a stadium and naming rights are likely to be limited to £30-40m p.a., so that won't move the needle.

Not sure what 'developers falling over themselves to get on this' means.
Some of the posts by citi leaks are dubious to say the least, especially in relation to this PR exercise, sorry project.

If I was Scruffy Jim, I would negotiate a deal to play at Wembley for the next few years similar to what Spurs did.

Then demolish Old Trafford and build the circus tent from scratch.

They would probably make more money from playing at Wembley and wouldn't have to worry about paying for the roof leaks etc at OT.

It makes complete sense.

And then when we play them down there. City tearing cockneys apart again...

In the words of King Kev...I would love it!

So far the only thing anyone knows is that they've released an AI generated picture of a circus tent of a stadium and everything else is suppostion, Chinese whispers and people making up scenarios to be angry/excited about.

Burnham's latest interview suggests that's the case...

Which if true, makes a bit of a mockery of the whole 'the rags won't be getting any of the public funding' bollocks.

I assumed it was more that he'd got himself into a frothing rage and was blaming everyone under the sun for something that is just a pr exercise for the Stretford scruff bags.
It's a real problem these days, invent a problem then use media, both social and traditional, to get people angry then give them a nebulous target for that anger.
Bread and circuses bullshit.
No invention of a problem in respect of the Labour party getting behind and supporting this scheme. For it was none other than the Chancellor of the Exchequer that stood up and named Manchester United as being part of the taxpayers investment...

Yeah that does piss me off.

So much to question on this.

1) where are the funds coming from
2) where is the land acquired to build this
3) what is this “south Manchester regeneration project” that is continuously mentioned by Jim
4) why are they “floating” the segments of stadium down the canal? Where are they being built to throw such a claim
D and D fabrication Co,,, D and D done and dusted.co

The government isn't funding the development.

Ummmm yes they are, not the stadium but the development of the area surrounding it,

BUT... without that government funding the stadium won't happen. The club should be funding that themselves.

Mark my words that funding will find its way indirectly into the clubs operational budget.

State owned?

A vague commitment to support the regeneration of the area isn't tantamount to funneling money into the club's operational budget, lol.
