Our season is poised between minor triumph or disaster with the next 2 games critical to City's top CL qualification and FA Cup success. Arguably, if we won the FA Cup in a season where we have been without 3 of 4 defenders for most of it (currently Stones, Ake and Akanji) and Rodri our best player, then the FA Cup trophy might be considered a full-scale triumph.

I am happier now with our defensive game. Khusanov has come in and been our best player in recent games and Nico is an intelligent player. On Monday, I was watching West Ham v Newcastle and at one point a graphic of the top 5 players with successful take-ons was displayed. Kudus was top. Doku was 2nd. But if you consider minutes played, Doku would beat Kudus easily. 'So what?' you might say if there is no end-product. We have this strange situation where City winger's boss their flanks but we don't seem able to translate that dominance into goals.

I don't know whether this is correct but it seems we have 2 choices in our attacking play:
  1. Play two wingers with Haaland in the middle with Bernardo and Foden in behind
  2. Play one winger and put Marmoush in as a 2nd striker.
On paper option 1 looks fantastic but Foden and Bernardo don't seem to be effective at the moment.

I hope we play Marmoush and Haaland vs Brighton and drop a wide player.

Add up their minutes this season and their assists and goals scored, piss poor for wingers at a supposedly top club and a million miles below the levels and Leroy, Sterling and Mahrez.
They both flatter to deceive with poor decision making and final balls.
Does Pep tell them to continuously hit defenders legs when attempting to cross the ball

I'm not alone in thinking that then!

Definitely not!
The players we expected before to fit in among your standard City team of 9-10 players are now asked to actually be fulcrums of Pep's City 3.0 or 4.0.
Not to mention there are a lot of posters here really thinking Bobb is "that player"!

If we play two wingers we need an energetic midfielder! With Nico, there is only one young Nico O.

Got to be worth a tray?

Yes. Although I can't see it coming out of the blue in what is an important game.

I am seeing is as 2 wingers or 1 winger and Marmoush playing the Alvarez role.

You called him the invisible man after he had been training with the club FOR ONE FUCKING DAY
We signed him in January 2024, and despite the horror show of injuries we’ve had, from Pep’s comments we’re not going to see him until the summer of 2025.

Until I see him in the pitch with my own eyes, I won’t believe he exists. ;0)

He was openly loaned as part of the agreement (hence the low Alvarez style fee) and we wanted him to play in the U20 World Cup. Pep was never going to rush him in. Calling him the invisible man when he’d been with the club a day was frankly pathetic. And I saw that with my own eyes
