Brighton and Hove Albion PL (H) | Post Match Thread

He was likely the most dynamic threat we had but somehow to many football Hellen Kellers on this board he was dreadful.

No he didnt have a great end product but many times when he skint his defender and bombed forward the end product he was meant to deliver to were nowhere in sight.

Still think playing 2 wing is a daft idea. Bernie did more on the right for 20 minutes than Savi and he's not a winger.
The line up was suicidal against a good side. I think Pep is just going down the road of we can’t defend even when we play a more defensive minded side so we might as well have a go at out scoring them.

Nothing seems to be working, although for a 15 min spell from when Bernado came on to when he went off we did have a bit more control and a bit more pressure.

We used to batter teams into submission, stretch them all over the pitch until they were drained and eventually the pressure told.

Not anymore.

Brighton had more attempts and to be honest better chances than we did. It’s where we are currently.

Peps refusal to play any of our youngsters is really annoying.
I've loved Bernardo since he came here but his time has passed.
Same with Gundo and yet Peps sticks with them.
Have we really no one that can play right back or midfield ?
100%, love Pep to bits but I’m seriously questioning if he is the right man to take us on to the next stage…

He hates playing the youngsters, Lewis gets game time because we have no full backs to call upon, it's desperate measures in that position. O'reilly had a good game against Plymouth scored twice but that's not enough obviously, we've got far better options like erm erm, yeah I don't know either.
I honestly don't know whether Pep wants another season here because it's quite frankly been fucking abysmal this season, every team is now fancying their chances against us and we're looking like a team that doesn't fancy itself against any fucker

If we didn’t have the points from earlier in the season we would be right in the shit. In fact we don’t know what’s coming down the line from this 115 stuff. Maybe that’s why no one gives a shit. I honestly don’t know.
Yep, we've given up mate and Pep has allowed it to happen. Unbelievable really

Pep needs to explain why Grealish isn’t playing. He’s our most expensive signing ever and is reported to be on £300k per week, Pep signed him and now won’t play him, he needs to explain why.
It’s criminal. It has to be a lifestyle thing but it’s the same lifestyle thing that Jack has had since he was old enough to get served in a pub. So we definitely knew about it before we signed him. I genuinely can’t think of anything else. His performances haven’t lit the world alight but then he’s barely played in “his” position, which is also criminal. When he has played centrally he’s done very well.

The pass from Gvardiol to marmoush was one of the few incisive things seen this side of Christmas.

On one hand im angry with yet another laboured performance and shit result but Brighton were in great form, we gifted them goals and on another day maybe we nick it and get some good feeling into the international break.

Only they will know the reasons but there must be one. He is so far down the ladder now. I was amazed when I saw him in the line up against Madrid. He played well in that first 20 mins too but let’s face it, this has been a hideous season for him and added to a very average one last season too.

Yeah you’re right, he’s not been great when he’s played and is the last pick by Pep.

The Madrid game he did really well and the forest game where he did play centrally he was mustard.

I think he needs a sustained run in the team though to build up some kind of form, which obviously means he’d need to stay fit… he won’t get it though. He’ll go in the summer.

They clearly don't continually hit the first defender. Most were well placed in the box but we had no one running into that area of the box at all.
Must have seen something different to me, they hit the defender and go for a corner. How can they be well placed if no one is near them?

Let's not forget we've had two games in two weeks plenty of preparation time and have failed on both accounts. What are we doing in training, because it's not working, nothing is changing

It shouldn’t be that difficult - replace ageing quality players with younger quality players. Not with Phillips, Nunez, Lewis, oap Gundogan and Kovacic.

Obviously the board are not stupid, they must realise we were signing worse players than we’ve had recently. If they need to be careful because of the charges then there’s not much that can be done until we see those off in court.

If the reticence to go balls out on transfers is because the club worry what the media or red shirt cartel will say then we need to fucking grow a pair rapidly.

Second highest income in football behind Madrid, yet spend less than fucking West Ham. Not good enough, and exactly why we are now shit.

For the right players, sometimes you have to forget net spend, image and bullshit in the media and overspend if required to get the right players.
Who says younger quality players wanted to sign for us?

With the quality ahead of them over the last 8 years, how do we know they didn’t look at City and think ‘well David Silva is the most consistent around and De Bruyne’s the best there’s ever been, Foden is coming through the ranks… I’ll look elsewhere’?

Plus, I wouldn’t leave my job and start working for a company with 130 legal charges hanging over them, no matter the assurances and things I could get written into my contract.

How many players have we missed out on with them thinking ‘fuck moving my family from another country to sign for City if I have to move again in 12 months because they’re guilty of the charges’.

Players will just think ‘fuck em, I’m not taking the risk with those dodgy fuckers’… even if we’re not guilty, we are known as cheats everywhere by everyone. Even if we end up being cleared, the reputational damage had been done over the years. We could clear all 130 and still be seen as cheats across the football world.
