Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

Booked all their infringements and didn’t book ours. Ignored all of our umpteen foul throws go (was Lewis doing it on purpose, every single one of his throwins was a foul throw?)

No complaints from me with regards to giving things against us.

Brighton fans will likely be annoyed with him though.
I noticed 1 throw in by the Brighton player who had both feet on the playing surface.
As you say not 1 of Lewis's throw in was legal.

All this talk of throw ins, it was like watching an under 8’s game. Was Rico trying to spot fix? Seriously at least three of his throws were illegal, it was like he was trying to goad the ref as they became progressively worse.

Problem was he had pretty much ridden the lunge but seeing how he had pushed the ball too far he resorted to a jump, twist and turn. He wasn’t diving for a foul but he was pretty theatrical. But moments later their centre forward went down went Gvardiol tickled him holding face. He should also have been booked for feigning injury. That said Hooper was shit all game. And here is one for all the refs, when the Brighton player deliberately took the free kick from about 10 yards from where it should have been, should he also have been booked for delaying the restart.
I wmder what would have been left of Doku had the Brighton player connected with either or both Jezzer's ankles. I thought it was a reckless tackle, coming in from the side. We should have had a free kick let alone a booking for Doku!

One of the worst refs to ever officiate in the PL

Apart from being incompetent, he's overweight and unfit

And he just proves it every single time he refs us

Utterly overweight and unfit. He’s known as the ‘fat referee’ in our house. No doubt in my mind that it impacts on his ability to referee the game.

He's disgustingly overweight.

If you were refereeing on such a big stage in view of millions on TV and thousands in the ground, you'd think he'd take a bit of pride in himself and do something about his weight.

Garvidol is also terrible at throwing ins

Has there been a subtle rule change because all teams are now getting away with it

I remember we had a foul throw given against us at Luton because the home crowd made such a fuss over a series of garvidol dodgy throw ins

Ah but he passes the PiGMOL Fit-for-Purpose Test - he has enough lung power to blow a whistle and hoist a card out of his pocket. The booking of Doku needs to be filed with the Crappenberg booking of Bellamy v Bolton, and the Corporal Jones booking of Aguero v Southampton. All booked for diving and all fouled, two in the area.

I thought the Fat Controller was shocking yesterday. He allowed Brighton to be continually hold our players particularly Doku.
Also allowed Brighton to time waste from the start and only booked in keeper near the end.
I don't see how someone as fat as him can be reffing at thus level, it's not a good look. Seen fitter refs in the Sunday pubs leagues leagues

If people think Hooper was to blame for that yesterday then you need to take your heads out of the sand. He booked 5 Brighton players to 2 Xity. The only thing I would say is before the free kick which led to the equaliser I thought Gvardiol was fouled.

It has become standard now to tackle players with your arms. It started at corners and refs would only penalise a defender if it was an isolated incident and where the defender 'threw' the attacker to the ground. The fact that they serially get away with this 'fouling' has led them to try it all over the pitch. And PiGMOL's finest just label it as 'contact' unless they have a bit of puff left in their lungs after a three yard sprint and strength in their arm to get the whistle to lip!

At times they were bloody awful n’all. How many times did they just kick it out of play when under no pressure? Must have been six!

There was a point in the second half when they just passed it thirty yards away from anyone on the pitch, then we did the same, then they did it back. I commented during that time ‘bloody hell both sides are terrible!’.

So hooper was to blame for the equaliser
No. Shite goalkeeping was.
Ortega moved to his left before the kick which meant the ball had passed him nefore he could move. Hooper is shit but fuck me blaming the ref in so fucking not us.

Agree, just wondered why you mentioned hooper and the assistant ref missing the foul on Gvardiol, which led to Brighton then getting a free kick
