Depends on an individuals interpretation of world class. Personally I think its banded around far too much. He was top level but Silva, Aguero and KDB are world class. My point about Mahrez was he wasn't used as a flying winger, whether he had that in his locker or not I don't know. I'm not criticising him by the way.
Mahrez was up there with the best.
Superb with the Leicester league winning team, along ith Kante.
Apart from all his club honours, he won the African Nations, was voted PFA players player of the year, African player of the year.
At City he was surrounded by great players but he has left a big void that we haven’t filled yet.

A couple of good crosses on the left and suddenly he's remembered like he was Maradona on that side

He's soft
A moaner
Doesn't track back
Constantly loses the ball
Can't shoot

When did we start accepting such bad standards

I’d play Doku on the right and Savinho on the left. Neither of them look like developing into the kind of winger who cuts inside onto their favoured foot to score goals, but both have the pace to get to the byline and deliver a cross on their favoured foot. The way they’re being played at the moment is delivering next to nothing so it’s got to be worth a try.

I love how he gets compared to 27 yr old Mahrez while he is just 20? What do people here expect? The second coming of Neymar? He is FAR BETTER than Mahrez was at his age. Mahrez was somewhere in Ligue 2 during that time
Our fanbase has become irrational lately.

Expecting everyone to just be a continuation of what’s gone before is delusional.

Savinho is an erratic, exciting and potentially excellent 20 year old playing in the PL for the first time. He’s being compared to a player in Mahrez who was with us in the prime of his career.

He needs to be working on his shooting every day, EVERY DAY! and he did have to score that chance yesterday, but come on we have to be more realistic.

It was me that mentioned Mahrez and not once did I ever compare them. This is typical of posting something and then somebody making it something it isnt. I was comparing past wingers under Pep that were less flamboyant and attacking than Doku and Savinho and when we did have a winger that was that type then Pep wanted less of that and more control. And my point was out of all the wingers available in world football today we have gone with two relatively raw but very skilful wingers who don't really offer control or defensive qualities and are just out and out attackers with bags of potential but that is all at this precise moment in time. And I questioned why these two if we have chosen to go down this route as they largely offer the same style.

Nothing to do with comparisons to Mahrez who is without doubt a top class level player. Don't understand why people read a post and decide to take it elsewhere.

And again there was no direct comparison to Mahrez who is a clearly better that Savinho or Doku.

Think Sav has comparable g/a (8) in his first PL season compared to both of Sane (9) & Mahrez (7). Sterling is out on his own though with 14. Ive little concern over his first year here tbh, clearly a player in there.

Doesn´t matter how old he is or is it his 1st or 5th season. He is our starting winger and he needs to play a lot better or we should find a better one until he improves.Hard to see us winning anything next season if both our wingers can´t provide more than 10 g/a a season.

He’s 20.
He seems to be first choice not coming on at 3-0, playing league cup games or a dead match in the CL, so his age is immaterial. He’s either good enough to start, or he’s not. Also, he cost £30M

By way of comparison, if age is a big deal.
Sterling was 20 in the 2014 Liverpool team.
Skelly is 18.
Nwanieri is 17. (15 when he made his debut).
Manoo is 19.
Bellingham is 21.
Huijsen (Bournemouth) is 18.
Kerkez is 21.
Minteh is 20. (5 goals for BHA)
Lewis is 20 and gets absolute pelters.

Meanwhile the PL2 lads and U-18’s never get a look in.

Salah is another one. Came to Chelsea and his finishing was poor. Fucks off to Italy for a few years and returns back to England and becomes one of the best players to ever play in this country. Savinho and Doku should be given time.

I agree. At his age, he'll develop. Needs to improve his finishing, though. No question about it. I notice it's starting to irritate his team mates. Either he finishes that chance on 31 minutes — it was clear enough — or he finds a player, I think it's Gundo, begging for the ball and in loads of space. Four team mates raise their hands in frustration.

Doku and Savinho are not the issue.

Prime Sterling and Sane would struggle to put numbers up in this side.

I agree to disagree. There have been so many good scoring opportunities for them, specialy savinho and their shooting is awful. Also final ball for Haaland or others are lacking quite often. I agree a bit with they are not the main issue, its our poor defending and pressing.

Changed the game for Brazil last night.

Lots of positive comments online about his impact.

I'm still convinced he'll be world class. In the same way I was convinced he'd play for City when watching him at Girona. The talent and potential is so obvious.

He doesn't offer any goalscoring threat on the wings, same as Doku. Every top team has dangerous wingers capable of scoring, but ours couldn't score in an empty training net.
Savinho does offer a goal threat.

(Green goal, big Blue big chance missed, big Red big chance blocked or saved)

He actually gets into some great positions either through receiving a pass from making a good run or from his own good play, that he should score from.

He’s just a poor finisher at his age at the moment.

He needs to work on his finishing massively. I’ve said a few times on this thread that over the years you hear of players spending time at training (and after when training has finished) who work on their finishing day-after-day. The big ones that stick out where managers have said they do this are Lampard and Salah (Salah was a poor finisher until his second season at Liverpool). This is what Savinho needs.

Tbf we have no evidence that he isn't doing it after training, before you argue his recent performances...it won't happen overnight.

Look at what we did with Sterling, who I know Arteta is credited with a lot.
