KDB still has much to offer, but Pep can’t flog him to death trying to get it out of him. Now, he doesn’t have to, so we should get another (cut price) year out of him and help him leave on a high.

I've been reading the new Pep book and it mentions how in Fernandinho's last season, Pep made sure he'd play one game every 10 days. I presume, based on Kev's recent minutes, that could be the way he's heading.

We only have 17 non-homegrown spots. It’s a waste to use one on someone that just comes on in the odd game for 15 mins, especially when at least 2 of those spots are likely to be goalkeepers.

And as a separate point, I’d prefer those minutes to be going to players that are the future. Players like Echeverri are going to be a much better use of those 15 mins here and there. We need to look to the future and not the past. Otherwise we end up losing exciting young players because we blocked them with a once world class player that is no longer that.

I’d rather keep pathways open and invest in the next era.
Argument for both sides Imo; the influence mentally for the new breed has to be nurtured outside coaching influence; we have let a few through the net because of supreme standards that were being set, was it a mistake? The trophies suggest otherwise and although the obvious rebuild is underway, balance is also needed; would you keep a young Mcatee who will likely be asked to do the impact role, or a KDB who even on a shit day can pull a rabbit that will never be in his hat…

This notion of we’ve somehow missed a trick with academy players is valid, yet wouldn’t of seen the outcomes we’ve achieved if the opposite was implemented…

Only one who looked like he at least wanted to try and create something. When we're chasing games like that though I don't know why he doesn't just go play right wing and we just give him the ball for him to whip in, that's as good a threat as anything else we can offer.

pep treating de bruyne like an OAP who cant survive 5 minutes but treating gundo like its 2021 when they are the same age and the same level of physically washed is pretty crazy.

the fact that he isnt even being brough on now other than a few minutes here and there should tell everyone what has been galringly obvious for over 12 months...he is finished.

We usually dominate games in the first half, and thats when you need KDB to create more clear chances for the team.

Pep should find a way to start him and Marmoush together.

Those days are long gone mate. He's been finished at top level for quite a while.
The odd flash of brilliance can't disguise that he's done.

And according to you apparently Gundo isn't. He is one year older and creates nothing per game.

While he may not be able to do a full game at the moment he offers creativity that no-one else in the squad can.
Bernie huff's and puffs his way through 90 minutes. Gundo offers nothing and for some reason Kovacic has disappeared. Of the four if we could get Kevin fit for a bench role, he'd be the one I'd keep.

Me too, but he's taking a huge pay cut to do that so i don't think he'll stay.
At this stage of his career, i'd take the money on offer in Saudi or the US.

Different jobs, different expectations.

Gundogan may have lost a yard or two but he gives 100% for 90 minutes, often trying to cover two positions due to Pep's midfield set ups.

KDB is anonymous for long periods even if he comes on as a sub. Totally ineffective for 90% of his time on the pitch this season. He looks disinterested.

At the end of the day, the buck stops with Pep Guardiola.

Lets hope he will start for Belgium in these two game, get his match fitness & Sharpness back

Without him starting, we will not finish in the top 5.

Just seen Kev has been playing for Belgium - surely at 34 years old if he wanted to get really fit, rested and get somewhere near his level on a consistent basis he would retire from international football? Doesn’t something have to give?
