I would put our success defining Pep/Kev story in a different light:One of the greatest attacking midfielders of all time. When fit, he is still capable of being a change maker in any team in the world.
City’s problem is that Pep thinks flogging him to death is Kev’s role in the team.
It’s stupidity in my book, and makes me question Pep’s motives at times.
Pep often said Kev wants to play ANY single minute or he'll be grumpy with Pep. It's in Kev's super ambitious personality.
That sky high ambition was the machine behind our success, all the goals and assists. But now, as his machine got older, his ambition is in his way to realize he isn't the same anymore. Even his crosses and shots are poor, how could he have forgotten his superb technique??
Kev's ambition is pushing him forward, always. He isn't that type who catches the right time to say farewell IMO.
And Pep, he knows exactly what he had in Kev, as he knows what he had in Messi back then. But Pep is such a grateful and fine gentleman that he just isn't able to be tough enough to make the cool headed and in terms of club management necessary decisions to rejuvenate the team after years of Golden success. He is just too nice.
That's where we stand. And I'm not really sure the penny has dropped for Pep. My impression is Pep has lost some of his fire and in his mind he is stuck in our glittering years and stubborn or tired to start a new attack, as football and style has changed, while we might be falling behind.
