TV Series

Bar none, Severance is the best show to be on TV ever (imo).

Last episode of the latest series just got released and it ticks every box. Total genius
 
I thought Last One Laughing on Prime (released the first four episodes yesterday) was one of my favourite bits of TV of the last five years.

It's a line-up of ten comedians who you see all the time on UK panel shows like Cats does Countdown, Buzzcocks, Would I Lie to You? etc. so if that's not your thing you probably won't like this show.

But I personally haven't laughed so hard in a very long time. The main appeal is obviously the format; they have to make each other laugh without laughing themselves. If you laugh twice you're out.

The secondary part I found really interesting was that you got a chance to look at the group dynamics of all of these comedians who you've been watching for years, you get a little peek into their real life relationships. The moment Bob Mortimer walks in and everyone realises they've got no chance is absolute gold. Even Richard Ayoade, who you'd assume is unbreakable, is in serious trouble when Bob starts up.

If panel shows are your thing then I'd absolutely recommend it.

i think i watched bits of the irish and australian versions a few years ago. It suffered badly from me not being familiar with the people so i might give the UK version a watch

Very good. For some reason they are using the Sex Pistols Who Killed Bambi in some of the episodes. I'm on ep 4 , of six I assume.

Yes that episode does meander away but ultimately there is a point to it even if they do stretch their artistic license for that one.

But the other episodes do help build a strong depth of understanding as to why the other characters are who they are, and the pay off is in the final episode of the series which doesn’t disappoint, but leaves the door ajar for series 3

Severance obviously isn’t for everyone but if you’ve enjoyed it so far (especially series 1) then I’m sure you’ll enjoy series 2

If you enjoyed this it might be worth checking out the original show that got syndicated across the world as Last One Laughing. Documental is its name. It's not as over-produced as LOL and (in my opinion) is much funnier as a result

You do need a tolerance for subtitles though, as it's a Japanese show. On the upside, there is no Jimmy Carr or Rob Beckett

It was on Prime Video until recently but can be found 'elsewhere' if you have an interest
 
Severance has been pretty good but I've never felt truly invested in any of the characters, other than
Irv, who will hopefully return

Maybe it's because this second series felt like a bit of a step down from the first, and I've lost a bit of interest
