PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Wouldn't be their decision though if they were disqualified as Directors, which you'd assume is almost certain with a guilty verdict
I'm not sure if breaking Premier League rules will disqualify you as a director, and I doubt the government has the guts to do that to Khaldoon. If a scapegoat is needed, I assume Simon Pearce will be promoted.

Nobody with an ounce of professional self respect would ever want to release a widely disseminated document into the public domain without it being as perfect as it can be, and that will be the case on steroids here.

I wonder how much the panel get paid for this. It’s a lot of work and whatever decision they reach they’ll get a lot of public backlash and journalists/demented fans looking into their personal lives to find links to either side or reasons why the decision is crooked.

If I was a successful KC making millions a year I’m not sure I’d think it was worth the bother.

Then again I guess KCs are used to defending/prosecuting high profile cases with a lot of public interest so maybe it’s just another day at the office for them.

Also “no one with an ounce of professional self-respect” did remind me of the PL releasing the statement about our charges while getting so many of the charges and clauses wrong. Clowns.

Bless.

I think it’s an interesting enough idea for an article, but the actual ranking and reasonings are terrible. Really really terrible.

The most likely people would be the out of contract players. First thing a club would do after a relegation would be offload anyone who (a) costs more than their current performances warrant, (b) anyone who’s too old to make it out the other side of the rebuild and (c) any academy players who aren’t first team starter ready but could be sold for a 100% profit.

A player coming off an ACL and tied down to a big contract like Rodri?! One of the least likely to leave. As is the bloke who JUST signed a 10 year contract knowing how the case could go. Bernardo, Gundogan, Nico Oreilly, Walker, Ortega, Kovacic. The list is not going to be that different to the list of players who might leave even if we get found not guilty on all charges.

@slbsn did cite the daily rate for a panel member to me a while back (which was agreed by the parties) and while it was less than a ‘normal’ refresher for a commercial KC it was still a good whack and discernibly more than the standard rate for a panel member in proceedings such as these. Two to three grand a day seems to ring a bell.

It’s about more than the money though. It’s about kudos, status, professional advancement, doing something a bit different, making a difference and (hopefully) doing the right thing.

Fuck that, for two or three grand a day it'd be all about the money for me

But, could you earn more stacking shelves at Tesco?

That’s my take too. They have an idea but nothing official at all.

The release date has just become one huge guessing game born of frustration and anxiety.

Mine has always been April 4th and is based on the average timelines of people who know more than I do about how long things take. It’s almost certainly wrong too.
Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last they took your life
They could not take your pride
