Adolescence

Unlikely, but if you've ever seen me post about 'Hoe_Math', you'll note I thought he should change the channel name. He, also, notes this himself, at one point.

But, Mr White Knight, the channel has become exactly what it made a tongue-in-cheek joke about.

Is it "very fair and balanced"? Well, unless he's a hermaphrodite, it's likely his view comes, mainly, from the sex he's experienced in.

Much of the content varies from 300k to 3M in views. I take it they're all "incel-y" as you put it?

I'm happy to balance his views out with a female's view of similar thought pattern later on.
I’m happy for you to not have to search the internet, for a woman to confirm his position, I don’t care that much.

Couple of points… he has said he should change his name - hasn’t though. Why do you think that is?

Anyone can give a fair and balanced approach, regardless of gender. It’s not about lived experience.

Content getting 300k - 3m views. Yes, all of those could very much be incel-y without caring to watch - Andrew Tate appeals to incels and he get clicks/views. Also links in to why he hasn’t bothered to change his name. The algorithm points his demographic to him.

The fact he’s called “Hoe Math” should be enough to show its bottom denominator stuff. It’s like complaining “The United Stand” is not pro City.

I think the way society has "turned" on young lads, in recent years is atrocious.
It started in the 70s/80s with the decimation of industries where they at least might be able to find unskilled work, the break down of the communities and the family unit (where the State readily stepped in to support women with children who didn't want a father being around....the minority, but they existed).
Now we have society telling them they are responsible for all of lifes ills and they should feel in some way responsible. That other groups have issues MUCH more important than they have.
And yet, if there is a war, they will be the ones expected to step up.
Grinds my gears and it's nothing short of a disgrace.

All this ‘toxic masculinity’ BS isn’t helping either

I’m not sure that our experience of life - pleasure, pain, love, frustration, joy etc. has changed that much ever. What has changed has been the source of those experiences and, much more significantly, our expectations of what those experiences should feel like and the effect they might have on us. There is a large mismatch between the life we have and the life we think we should have. Social Media amplifies this to breaking point.

LOL! I'm not going to call you dense, so I'll ask you what you took from the clip that I assume you watched? I don't want to call you that as it's unproductive.

I will ask, though, what you took from it that was'offensive' to the opposite sex.

I'd be interested to know... Unless you 'don't care enough' to explain...

@mackenzie made a strident point I would have, eventually, come to. Tell me what "toxic masculinity" means when it encompasses all of what was written by her and yet the straggly connections get folded in as well.

The point being we are unbalanced as a society. Accepting equality is not the same as equality of outcome. Results will not always be same when men and women do the same thing, which is why some roles work best, as a whole, for the genders that do it best.

Exceptions are not the rule.

What was offensive? For one, I’d say the word “hoe”. Agree?

I didn’t watch the video that you put up from the channel “Hoe Maths”. I don’t need to watch it, to work out its biases and who its target market is.

Especially as you’ve brought it up as evidence for a conversation on women’s’ supposed dating habits, that you definitely have first hand imperical evidence and don’t base off of these type of videos.

Wait... so you're upset at content you haven't watched, so therefore have no clue what the point of it is because of a channel title, that he acknowledges, but is now stuck with...???

Was there any point of a good faith discussion when I could already see the outcome despite giving you the benefit of the doubt in resisting using the word "dense" towards you.

At what point did I get upset?

It's grim. But a must see.

This incel thing , 80% of women are only interested in 20% of men
If this is true the implications for society are terrifying
I call bullshit on that. That sounds like something made up thing by incels.

Are you saying that 80% of blokes can't find a partner?
That is simply untrue just from looking around.

Or do you mean they might have to settle for one who is not in the top 20% of women that men fancy, becvause they atre not in the top 20% of blokes?

At what point did I get upset?

Don't deflect.

The point stands that you admitted you don't know what the content was trying to say in this day and age. A by-product that affects youngsters on social media conflating digital and real worlds.

You could say 'art imitating life imitating art' in social media tones.

But it doesn't matter, it's not important to understand, just more important to deflect.

Explain the phenomena "The Loneliness Epidemic" then.

I'll wait.

Me deflect?! Christ, that’s rich. Speaking to you is like trying to catch light through a prism.

Art imitating life? How about commenting on a show which one of the main points, is how we need to do more to protect children from harmful content, and you sharing some red pill spouting shite. The algorithm has directed it to you for a reason.

The loneliness epidemic is something that affects everyone at all stages of life. The issue is that the incel mindset is to attribute this problem to women and blame them for it. The loneliness epidemic is caused by all sorts of things like an increase in mobility meaning people are living further from friends or families, a reduction in third spaces where people can socialise, and an increasing cost of living meaning that a night out is now a luxury and teenagers and young adults can't hang out anywhere that doesn't cost money. You then also have a bunch of people who lost 2-3 years of their life from the pandemic. But are we pretending that retired people, parents, men, women, boys, girls, etc, aren't all experiencing it?

Just a minor point to add, women being allowed to use kids as weapons against fathers , stopping them seeing each other, is disgusting too

I know a few blokes its happened to. Its life ruining for them

Now, I WILL call you dense!!

By virtue of the chat, social media has come up as a subject and blame. I agreed with this direction. What I did not agree with, was the slant that blame came from... which is part of the discussion in the show.

I think this discussion is above your pay grade which I've tried to have with you, fairly.

Thanks for the input.

No, I agree with you that it affects all stages of life at some stage.

Would you agree that some demographic stages of loneliness are more affected than others? If not, why not?

And can I get your view of what the 'incel' person is as a current description to the general public?

I thought it wasn't very good to be honest and the one shot gimmick hindered it rather than made it better. The pacing was totally off because characters had to be filmed walking from one room to another etc, they had to resort to playing music over the top because its just boring watching people walk...this just distracted from the "realism" they wanted to achieve with the one shot stuff in the first place.
Im not sure why people are thinking the message is really profound and hasn't been done before, its very basic.
Overall I think it would have been so much better with proper editing and pacing, but each episode would probably only be about 10 minutes long.

Oh, and the bit with the copper chasing the lad through the school...looked absolutely ridiculous. He was running like you do in a dream so not to catch up with him.

Massive let down. Watched episode 1 and thought it was off to a good start but all downhill from there, it was just ok but with hype surrounding it last week its a massive disapointment.

I have a 2year old son and do worry about the way society is going for him already.
