Stadium Developments thread - San Siro to be demolished (p56)

I like this one!

Although in all seriousness, any die hard long time rag must be a bit gutted that this seems to all be about what it looks like outside and covered fan parks etc, rather than an actual football stadium with seats and a pitch... I guess when they're relegated it might hit then ;)

Though I've realised what this internal view has reminded me of all day - it's hard to describe if you've not seen it, but aardman film "flushed away" has a full mini London in the sewers, and they're all watching the world cup final on screens, can't find a picture that shows the full effect is the roof all around them, but this shows it a bit ;)

Newcastle United are now planning to build a new 65,000-capacity super stadium on Leazes Park

The club’s alternative option for a redevelopment of St James’ Park has been shelved for now, and we can reveal that the plot for the new stadium will retain its city-centre location in Leazes Park.

The proposed site has no overlap with St James’, meaning the team can continue to play there at full capacity while the new home is built. The club have played on that site for 133 years.

It is expected that Downing Street officials will give the green light for Newcastle to press ahead with their ambitious development and will assist them in cutting through any red tape

Stadium designs seen by executives are said to be stunning.

They have a bubble-wrap-type exterior and a parkland-style approach that will be Newcastle’s equivalent of Wembley Way. London architects KSS and Tyneside-based Ryder have provided some of the drawings. The most notable stadium in world football with a bubble-wrap design is Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.

Nottingham Forest have confirmed there is a possibility that work could begin on their ambitious stadium redevelopment plans next season.

“It remains the club’s ambition to redevelop the Peter Taylor Stand and there is a material prospect that we could start that work during the 2025/26 season,” said a club statement on Tuesday. “If that is the case, we will consult with season card holders who have seats in the Peter Taylor Stand regarding their relocation, if and when appropriate.”

AFC Bournemouth owner Bill Foley has announced that the Cherries intend to purchase Dean Court from stadium landlords Structadene and redevelop the ground as opposed to building a new Kings Park Stadium.

“We are hopefully going to be acquiring the Vitality (Dean Court), we have a plan in place. It is going to be a staged effort, and we need to have the council’s approval.

“We’ve already raised the money, so the sooner we get approvals and we get our design finalised, we’ve already retained our architects and retained our builder and so on, we’ll be ready to go.

For anyone interested I have seen this image previously regarding the area around Old Trafford between the canal and the rail line.

The same document says the Freightliner terminal is Freehold and the area leased to DB Cargo is Network Rail Freehold

So it looks like Everton fan and Manchester Mayor Burnham is now campaigning for public funds outside of Everton’s ground to be used to create an area for the club to use.

And people still believe he wouldn’t stoop so low as to get public money to pay for the new Man Utd stadium.

Meanwhile, a normal football club has plans which might actually happen. I am a resident but not a fan, but some of my grandkids would love to get tickets for top flight football, so this sounds pretty good to me. https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/s...ournemouths-plans-redevelop-vitality-stadium/

But the local council will probably dither and this might actually never happen, based on recent experience.
As someone living in Southbourne they'll build a cycle lane :-)

Sounds like there’s going to be a lot of transport issues around the ground on match days. Also the North Stand (guessing that’s the small one) getting abit of a kicking by fans.

Looking a bit nondescript in the concourse at the moment. I'm assuming that'll change by next august.

Lot of issues to sort out - transport, parking, the bridge and walkway. Concourses were jammed my mate said but am sure other clubs such as yourselves and Spurs had similar issues initially. It's a massive leap forward from Goodison and Walton and there's no going back now.

remember they are never jealous - and the idea he goes over there as a fan when he covers every game from his bedroom fanciful

Sorry, but it's absolutely typical of this country to build a new stadium without considering the transport issues. Our own dear Etihad is a prime example - years before an inadequate tramway was opened, discrete buses only recently delivered, parking inadequate and expensive by design, basic bus service as much use as a peashooter is in a naval battle.

From what I can gather, Sandhills station is totally inadequate as public transport provision for the new Everton stadium. Well, who would have thought it? In other news, the sun will rise tomorrow.
