Best Opposition Player You've Seen Live v City.

What about Andy Dawson and his 86th minute winner at Bootham Crescent 1998. Surely 50,000 of us were there to witness him score his only professional goal and on his debut. Those were the days……..

A couple stand out, not necessarily the best ever, but standouts all the same - the Berbatov one for spurs in the league cup that several have mentioned, but there was a game when Leicester beat us one nil at Maine Road and Robbie Savage ran the show

Saw his miss an open goal
The thread title is the 'best player' I've seen... Messi is the greatest player in history.

You could argue there are other players who've had a better one off performance against us. But Messi is the best player.

One that’s worth a mention is Frank Lampard’s performance at Maine Road in I think a 0-3 defeat where he completely ran the show. Opened my eyes to how good he was.

Dalglish late 70’s - early 80’s. Boniek Lodz 78, Cantona had the knack of taking the piss and Cyril Regis.

I remember the Leicester game...agree with you, wouldn't call it the best ever performance but for it to still remain in my memory, Savage must have done a few things right! Seem to remember him covering every inch of turf.

The Berbatov display was simply outstanding.

Another one I remember was when 2 up v Liverpool at HT (I think) and they came back to win 3-2, hauled up by their bootstraps almost single handedly by Gerrard.

There's a few that stand out...

Bernardo (Monaco) in the Champions League at The Etihad.

Messi, Iniesta, Xavi on numerous occasions.

Santi Cazorla (Arsenal) at The Etihad.

Robben (Bayern Munich) at The Etihad.

Michael Owen (Dippers) at Maine Road, I think he ended up getting a hat-trick that day.

Henry at Maine Road, They were 4-0 up after 30 minutes or something.

Scouser Walton was an absolute joke that day, He sent Zabaleta off for a foul on Alonso. I think Robinho missed an open net too, We were outstanding until we went down to 10 men.

Gerrard and Torres hurt us big time in the last 20 minutes or so of that game.

Watching Messi was the most bizarre, in that he has absolutely no involvement in the majority of the game, and then just comes alive when he fancies it

Others worth noting were Ronaldo and Rooney; probably compounded by it being in a Derby, but every single time they touched the ball I was fearing the worst

Fabregas, Iniesta and Xavi as well and a final nod to Marco Reus who was unreal at the Etihad when we played Dortmund in 2012

On the way up to the Owen game I'm pretty sure it was mentioned on the radio that he'd had a proper lean spell so we just looked at each other knowing what was going to happen !!

I remember Zolton Gera scoring a worldie (I think it was for West Brom) into the goal in the North Stand - one of the occasions I’ve applauded an away goal

Less of individuals and more teams but Klopps Dortmund and Monaco were just simply superb

I remember walking away from the Monaco home game thinking we need to sign silva, mendy and Mbappe. All three played awesome against us.
"cos two out of three ain't bad".

Cough cough sorry, just my inner meatloaf got the better
