Best Opposition Player You've Seen Live v City.

Think a lot of you Johnny come latelys have forgotten Nicky summerbees performance at Maine road for Swindon town, many thought we were getting a carbon copy of his dad when we signed him, unfortunately we would have been better off playing with ten men

Here's a random one
15th September 2002
City 2 Blackburn 2
A total masterclass in midfield by Blackburn's David Thompson until Danny Tiatto came on from the bench and "did him"
Tiatto red card
Thompson subbed off
10 man City come from 2 goals down to secure a draw
Keegan had a meltdown and said Tiatto would never play for City again

Betbatov in league cup game.
Zola in 3-0 defeat at maine road.
First one that came into my head as well, Berbatov in the league cup vs Spurs.
Also the raggy rusky who ripped David Brightwell a new one at the Swamp, a very painful night

Lionel Messi - probably anytime he played against us. Hands down the best and then a gap to anyone else.

A random one off performance against us was Berbatov for Spurs against us in the League Cup QF in Dec 2007; they were down to 10 and he was utterly unplayable that night and won the game for them.

In the Prem League Id say Mo Salah who has been consistently brilliant. Was in the Away end for that wonder goal against us in Oct 2021 - sadly it was ridiculously good.

The Berbatov one for me, he was incredible that night. I always smile when I think that this was the same player that somehow put the ball over the top from underneath the bar against the rags in the 2011 semi final!!

I’d forgotten about that!

Messi for PSG at the Etihad was a shell of the player he was.

Like others Berbatov was the first that came to mind. But also Steve bloody Cherry for Notts County in the 5th round of the FA Cup in 1991. Kept everything out with every part of his body and they got the winner at the death.

Luka Modric the night we beat Spurs with a Crouch OG to qualify for the CL, was one of the best midfield performances I’ve seen from a losing opponent.
