City’s New Kits

Sadly, we'll never have adidas in the medium term due to their association with that shower of shite over the boarder.

I suspect if the Puma deal was to expire in '29 (or indeed be open to an early tender before hand) the best we could hope for would be a return to Nike or a come-up brand with big pockets looking to make an impact.

Umbro
Castore
Hummel

etc etc. aren't players anymore for a contract the size of City's.

Considering Liverpool have just gone back to Adidas, it wouldn't be that far out the realm of possibility.

Plus Adidas make both Boca and River in Argentina which is a much more contemptuous rivalry than City and Not From The City.

New York City away is an absolute belter from Addidas. I wouldn’t be suprised if we go back to Nike as they are the only other brand apart from Addidas with the biggest pockets.

Something like this would be perfect…

We had an even better one in 22/23.

The problem here is that people think we should have that exact same shirt every single season. The reality is that the shirt makers have to make a new one every season which is different enough to the last one so it can be sold hundreds of thousands of times.

The shirts are also aimed mostly at kids and young people but people here who are 50+ think they should all look like they did in the 1970’s as they act like the new Gok Wan.

We also see the same overreactions each year to leaked efforts which end up looking no where near as good as they do on the players. Even this season’s maroon away was lambasted on here yet it looks absolutely classic City out on the pitch - which is apparently what everyone wants.

Puma have been good to us even if some of the stuff has been hit and miss.

I personally think in 20 years we will look back on some of the items they have given us as iconic and of novelty.

We are one of their signature teams, something we will never get with Nike or Adidas.

They have given us plenty of spin off lines from sporting apparel to fashion apparel all of which incorporate the clubs and city of Manchester's history within it. Adidas or Nike just wouldn't have done that.

I hope we never go back to Nike. Truly awful template, generic rubbish.

Our best ever shirt in my opinion.

Id disagree with you in regards to the spin off lines and fashion apparel. Adidas and Nike are streaks ahead in the sense of getting the culture of clubs at the moment, Adidas especially. What they've done with Newcastle and Aston Villa this season has been great, understanding the club, referencing iconic kits, colours, former players and celebrity fans.

The Adidas Originals lines that United, Newcastle, Villa, Forest, and Arsenal get are much better than the dross Puma serve up for fans. I'd much rather be wearing an Adidas SPZL Nottingham Forest jacket as opposed to a naff oasis shirt with Rodri slapped on the front.

Adidas wouid be great for historic stuff to do with Manchester, they already do Adidas Moss Side, Adidas Moston and Adidas Failsworth trainers, they've got football culture off to a tee, i'm speaking as a 60 year old whos been wearing adidas trefoil clobber since the late 1970's.

100%. The material was just different too. A true, true classic and Umbro did well by giving us unique kits that season. Not templates.

Puma missed a trick when they gave us that mediocre first home kit, when for the anniversary kit the same. Season they produced a fucking stunner that we wore once in the charity shield?

The big problem with that 125 kit (no, not 115!) was that it pulled threads like a mod on a power trip. I ended up buying two of them. The second one has never been taken out of the cellophane bag it came in.

Yes! I did exactly the same thing for that reason. It's such a shame, that they're so badly made. I don't get why that was the case!

Cheap, shit material. As you said, it's a shame, as it was a stunner. Lovely shade of blue (not too "washed out" looking, and no sponsor. The material that the 2009/10 was made from was infinitely better. I've still got mine, and there's fuck all thread pulls on it. It even still fits!

Hahahaha, same here. I'm sure the first thread pull occurred when I looked sideways at the Shirt shortly after taking it out of the wrapper
