The journalists should imo be more on the ball. No questions about Gvardiol, Echeverri or Bobb. Echeverri has been linked with a Summer move. What's the status there? How is Foden? You have started to experiment with 2 wingers plus Marmoush but your wingers are beating their men, but not creating many chances. Is that a fair observation and how can they be more effective?

You might only get 2 questions or limited time, but as group get your questions in. Not very impressive. And when Pep comments 1,2,3,4 weeks in respect to the charges, they should immediately ask him what date has he been given.

Perhaps they will follow up with these questions in the embargoed section of the press conference.

Ah, i see your mistake Marvin. You think they're interested in answers about the actual football. They're only looking for their next click-bait headline

Pep said something in the press conference that surprised me, that Bournemouth was our first defeat this season.
I thought we'd had more by then.
Checked back on our results. I remember feeling very disappointed after we drew away to Newcastle about 7 games in and we'd only dropped 2 points before that, that being a draw with Arsenal. I remember feeling that it was a total disaster of a season by the time we lost that first game to Bournemouth and that we were out of the title race then.

Mad how it all unravelled and little did we know how bad it would actually get.

Anyway, good that Hujsen and Kerkez are suspended for this Sunday's game. Look like two top players.

EDIT - i've just checked the above about those suspensions. Can anyone confirm? Heard on talksport at lunch time that they are suspended but can't find confirmation of this anywhere else

I saw it and a good old irritated whinge to hubby about how the adjective journalist is an oxymoron when describing that shower of click bait merchant shyyte. The total lack of respect to Pep and what this team has achieved is disgraceful. I love how he treats most of them with the contempt they deserve.

My worry is that without their best two players their teammates will want to win for them two and dig in even deeper. It happens in most together functioning close teams, sadly not a characteristic we've seen much of this season from our own team.

I agree. But I had a feeling even in October we were winging results a lot and actually wrote a prediction in my diary that we would get sweet fa points in November. Something not been right since at least that fa cup final shite show last season.

Bur like you say, at that point early November little did we know what kind of horrors were to ensue over the following 4 months. And tbh imo continues......

The thing is. It was coming for a long time. Even when we were getting results, the alarm bells were ringing loudly.

we got a scrappy 1-0 win at home to Southampton, one of the worst sides in decades, we fluked an injury time winner against bottom of the league wolves who somehow looked worse than Southampton at that point, we managed a 3-2 win at home to fulham when they missed 3 absolute stone wall sitters and ederson had a blinder to keep us in it, that was a game we should have lost, then the 2 draws against 10 men arsenal and newcastle and before that we were completely outplayed by Brentford at home and managed a win. Bournemouth was the first defeat but it was over half a dozen really poor performances that lead to it.

A honest and true appraisal of events at that time. The home game against Brentford was when I got an inkling things weren't right but put it down to early season form. The League Cup defeat at Spurs was the start of that horror show over autumn and winter, but Bournemouth away was a real indicator. Anyway, let's hope for a tip top performance this weekend and a successful finish to the season.

Journalists are researchers and detectives. If Pep gave a pathetic reply along the lines of 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks in response to a question about the verdict you might chortle along with the joke but it should be followed up immediately. I know from reading this forum that the world is full of inquisitive people who will jump on any weaknesses immediately. Why doesn't the same happen face to face? It does with your friends in conversation. People are always asking questions of each other but these press conferences are too deferential.

We have a small squad and had no one to replace Rodri. We played 34 year old Gundogan in there for a while and predictably teams tore into us. I do put a lot of our problems down to the combination of age, and injury. We will have our answer when Rodri returns. Pep spoke about that today and refused to put a date on it.

The Southampton home game was when I knew we were heading for a fall, truly dreadful peformance that day followed by:-
  • Spur 2 v City 1 (LC)
  • Bournemouth 2 v City 1 (PL)
  • Sporting 4 v City 1 (EC)
  • Brighton 2 v City 1 (PL)
  • City 0 v Spurs 4 (PL)
