BlueMoon’s House music thread

Ive not done a mix in a while....heres a kind of recent one from last year:

Interesting that you started this thread, ive been going through old vinyl and digitising them to use with rekordbox....was thinking of doing an oldschool mix with stuff from the early 90s

I bought serrato and phase, with exactly the same intention and never used any of them.

I'm off to Exeter tomorrow morning, for this. Jon Da Silva is playing there tonight. I am too old for clubs, these days
Fair play...i cant be arsed with vinyl these days, all in boxes in my garage etc.
I produce more than DJ now and just dont have the space for 1210's and a mixer. I got a great Pioneer controller and use rekordbox.
I still buy tunes...but from beatport, traxsource, bandcamp etc....and at £1-£1.50 a track, its much more affordable :-)

I still buy records. But I have no room for any more. It has to be something special. I gave box loads away when I moved to Somerset. I have about 3.5K left. It's all the rare as rocking horse shit, old skool stuff.
I have bought a Roland tr8s, sh-4d and a behringer 303. I am working my way through synturial and learning to play the guitar. I want to make electro pop.

Brilliant...keep at it....i started making music when i was 13/14, starting punk bands playing guitar....and have carried on, in one way or another ever since.....im 50 this year :-|

Its my golf...and my Mrs says shed rather be a music widow than a golf widow :-)

Without being a miserable old got about it, I see videos on instagram of the modern day house scene and I absolutely cringe. It looks like young brainless airheads gently waving their bodies at the DJ with their phones in the air whilst he pretends to be the creator of the music and leaps around like a dick. And the music is just generic stuff that hasn’t changed much in 40 years.

There was a time, believe it or not, when this was the cutting edge. Now it’s the opposite.

Whilst i agree, to an extent, with what you are saying....just like it was "back in the day", all the good stuff doesnt get plastered all over social media. You dont see all the great underground stuff thats going on, as those enjoying it arent bothered with posting everything online.

I even had to go back and delete the word "clubs". A great thing happening over here is that there are "club nights" who dont just play in the same place or venue...theyre taking over old working mens clubs, old social clubs etc and putting on really cool one off events....breathing life and money into old clubs, and then moving on to the next venue.

But if you arent going out to these places, you'll never see them :-)
